Obama Overruled 2 Top Lawyers on War Power in Libya

President Obama rejected the views of top lawyers at the Pentagon and
the Justice Department when he decided that he had the legal authority

without Congressional authorization, according to officials familiar

Democrats Are the Party of Racists

Jason Mattera of Human Events writes on June 14, 2011:

"A crucial part of the Democrats' victim folklore is that they have been losing the South to Republicans over the past half century because the Democrats stood on principle to oppose race discrimination, while the Republican Party pandered to racists in the South—a region of the country liberals believe is composed primarily of Klan members....  The Republican Party's allegedly racist appeal to Southerners is darkly referred to 17 times a day in the mainstream media as the 'Southern Strategy.'

[In her new book, Demonic , Ann Coulter tackles] the popular myth that Democrats are the party of civil rights.  It's the exact opposite, she states, noting, 'It was Republicans who overwhelmingly introduced, promoted and passed every civil rights act from the end of the Civil War right up to and including the 1964 Civil Rights Act.'

...[The liberal fable is that] conservative hero Barry Goldwater opposed the 1964 Civil Rights Act in order to appeal to racists in the South, and for that reason, the GOP started to lose the black vote.  The reality is that Goldwater didn't have a racist bone in his body...Goldwater founded the NAACP chapter in Arizona, integrated the Arizona National Guard and ended racial segregation in his family-owned department stores.  In other words, Goldwater was a vociferous foe of race discrimination, and actively fought to abolish all the Jim Crow laws that Democrat politicians adopted."

Here's Mattera's interview with Coulter:

Texas State Senator Tells Immigrant Giving Testimony to Speak English!

doctorbulldog | 17 June, 2011 at 10:50 am | Categories: immigration, politics | URL: http://wp.me/p1NPg-7c3

Yup, the immigrant has been here 23 years and still hasn't learned to speak English fluently enough to give his testimony without the aid of an interpreter.

Evidently, he didn't come here desiring to assimilate into American society, but instead, he came here to help put up road blocks targeting officials trying to stem the flow of illegal immigrants:

Texas Republican says it is 'very insulting' to use Spanish in his presence

 By Stephen Webster - RawStory.com

A man who gave testimony in Spanish before a Texas State Senate committee Monday was told by a Republican lawmaker that using his native tongue is "insulting" if he also knows how to speak English.

At about 2:17 into the video below, [Antolin Aguirre of the Austin Immigrant Rights Coalition] testifying against a controversial bill [SB 9] that seeks to ban so-called "sanctuary cities" by withholding state grant money is interrupted by state Sen. Chris Harris (R), who asks why the man is speaking in Spanish with the aid of a translator.

watch?v=Fgm-y6dc6q0

He responded in Spanish, and his translator said: "Spanish is his first language and since it's his first time giving testimony he would rather do it in Spanish."

"It's insulting to us," Harris snapped back, to voices of approval from the audience. "It's very insulting, and it means if he knows English, he needs to be speaking in English."

That's when Sen. Kirk Watson (D) of Austin chimed in.

"Senators are also entitled to speak their personal point of view and may not be speaking for everybody else as well," he said.

Dunt-di-dahhh!  Super Demonrat to the rescue!

Naturally, Sen. Kirk Watson is opposed to the SB 9 bill banning sanctuary cities.  Of course, it is enablers just like Sen. Watson who shoulder a great deal of the responsibility for retarding Antolin Aguirre's language development for the past 23 years.

The man then continued his testimony in Spanish. [...]

Thereby, continuing to insult Sen. Chris Harris and everyone else who thinks 23 years is enough time for an immigrant of average intelligence to have mastered English well enough to effectively express his/her thoughts and ideas in English.

Jun 16, 2011 07:31 pm | Jeff Dunetz

The Congress shall have Power....  To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water; To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years; To provide and maintain a Navy; To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces; To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions... Article One, Section Eight of the US Constitution.

Earlier this week Speaker Boehner sent a letter to the President warning Obama that he will clearly will be in violation of the 1973 War Powers Act as of this weekend as the POTUS did not seek congressional consent for the operation within 60 days of the March 19 U.S. air strikes against Moammar Gadhafi's forces.
"Either you have concluded the War Powers Resolution does not apply to the mission in Libya or you have determined the War Powers Resolution is contrary to the Constitution," Boehner wrote. "The House and the American people whom we represent deserve to know the determination you have made."
Yesterday the President gave his response. He sent a 30+ page report (embedded below) justifying continued military involvement U.S. military involvement is "legitimated" by the UN Security Council – saying that therefore no congressional authorization is needed.
U.S. forces are playing a constrained and supporting role in a multinational coalition, whose operations are both legitimated by and limited to the terms of a United Nations Security Council Resolution that authorizes the use of force solely to protect civilians and civilian populated areas under attack or threat of attack and to enforce a no-fly zone and an arms embargo.
A major problem with that argument is that the Constitution's provisions regarding the United States use of military force mentions Congress, but it doesn't mention the United Nations as having the right to legitimize the use of American forces.

The President's statement brings to mind George Washington's farewell address where he said:
So likewise, a passionate attachment of one Nation for another produces a variety of evils. Sympathy for the favorite Nation, facilitating the illusion of an imaginary common interest, in cases where no real common interest exists, and infusing into one the enmities of the other, betrays the former into a participation in the quarrels and wars of the latter, without adequate inducement or justification.

The administration also claims that its actions are not governed by the War Powers Act because the U.S. involvement does not constitute "hostilities" – the term used by the act to limit the time the president may commit U.S. forces into combat.
The President is of the view that the current U.S. military operations in Libya are consistent with the War Powers Resolution and do not under that law require further congressional authorization, because U.S. military operations are distinct from the kind of "hostilities" contemplated by the Resolution's 60 day termination provision.
Maybe its me, whether the action is right or wrong, when one nation drops bombs on another that represents hostilities.  It is also interesting that the President says further congressional authorization, as the operation has never been authorized by Congress.

Whether you agree with the rationale behind placing Americans in danger by participating in the Libya operation or not, the President's explanation sets dangerous precedent that congress needs to address. Who is allowed to "legitimize" the use of American Military, Congress or the United Nations? The Constitution would say Congress.  Additionally what is the definition of hostilities? Are bombing operations considered hostilities?  Embargoes?  Is it "anything goes" as long as there are no troops on the ground?

The answers to these questions are vital to the future direction of the Country, our use of military force, and most importantly are we a sovereign nation or a vassal state of the UN

The President's entire response is below.

Kiss of Death: Gore Loves Romney

Real Conservatives already know 2012 candidate Mitt Romney is a RINO.

But many Republicans are still deluded, or Romney's poll numbers wouldn't be so high. So this information is for all you sheeple Repubs out there.

In his first townhall meeting, in New Hampshire, since announcing he's running -- again -- for the presidency, Romney said "he believes the world is getting warmer and that humans are contributing to that pattern."

That got an enthusiastic knod of approval from none other than the phony Green guru, Al Gore, who became a millionaire from peddling his Manmade Global Warming tripe.

This is what Gore wrote on his Al Gore's Blog:

Good for Mitt Romney -- though we've long passed the point where weak lip-service is enough on the Climate Crisis

June 15, 2011 : 12:49 PM

Yea, baby.

Way to go, Mitt Romney!

DEDICATED TO THE REMOVAL OF THE ISLAMIC REGIME IN IRAN ---- I PREFER TO DIE ON MY FEET THAN LIVE ON MY KNEES من مرگ ایستاده روی پای خود را بر زندگی خم شده روی زانو ترجیح میدهم

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 15, 2011

ISLAM IS NOT A "RELIGION" IT'S AN INVASION

The USA, a Christian Nation cannot put up a Christmas scene of the baby Jesus in a public placebut the Muslims can stop normal traffic every Friday afternoon by worshiping in the streets. Something is happening in America that is reminiscent of what is happening in Europe, specially France.
This is Political Correctness gone crazy… Scary! Isn't it?

This is NYC on Madison Ave

This is an accurate picture of every Friday afternoon in several locations throughout NYC where there are mosques with a large number of Muslims that cannot fit into the mosque - They fill the surrounding streets, facing east for a couple of hours between
about 2 & 4 p.m -

Besides this one at 42nd St &Madison Ave, there is another, even larger group, at 94th St & 3rd Ave, etc.,

Also, I presume, you are aware of the dispute over building another "high rise" Mosque a few blocks from "ground zero"-

With regard to that one, the "Imam" refuses to disclose where the $110 million dollars to build it is coming fromand there is a lawsuit filed to force disclosure of that information - November can't come soon enough.

This is in New York City on Madison Avenue, not in France or the Middle East or Yemen or Kenya.

Is there a message here????

Yes, there is, and they are
claiming America for Allah. If we don't wake up soon, we are going to "politically correct" ourselves right out of our own country!

Shoved out by increasingly openly radical Obama, who no longer seems to care what happens to America and is slowly accepting the thought of being a one term president - AS LONG AS HE CAN LEAVE SCORCHED EARTH BEHIND HIM. And a global Caliphate as a monument to himself.
COMMENTARY from the Internet:

Islam is not just a religion. It is the whole system of government, judicial, and cultural believing/existing controlled by the Koranic scriptures and is
intolerant of any other way of living/believing/being.

This intolerance,
if followed precisely according to the Koranmeans the killing of anyone who does not believe the same way. In the very least everyone who is not a Muslim, according to this religion/government/system should pay a high tax to those who do believe/follow the teachings of Islam. That is what happens in countries where Islam is the majority.

Muslims are increasing because of a high birth rate. Once a Muslim, there is no freedom of choice to leave.

Islam is THE PLAGUE. Write these words in a Muslim majority country, and have your hand amputated. Speak it and have your tongue removed. Renounce Islam and have your head removed.

Islam is a socially pathological ideology
masquerading as a religion. It is toxic to the American way of life that thousands have fought and died for. It is a cancer that must be excised out if we are to survive.

Just read this column on ZDNET, a tech pub from CBS. Compare and
contrast the emails being mined from Sarah Palin to the actions of
Weiner and you will see what I mean about what a pig he is:

http://www.zdnet.com/blog/government/emails-tell-shocking-inside-story-of-sarah-palins-time-as-alaska-governor/10440?tag=nl.e540

The commenters here are very much in her corner and several of them ask
about doing the same thing to Obama and his senate, state senate and
other emails. Sounds like a winner to me. Bet the lawyers would be on
that one in a second.

Posted this morning at Electric Politics, a podcast interview on the
subject of the Greek debt crisis with Dr. Richard Wolff, Professor of
Economics Emeritus, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a
leading neo-Marxist theorist. Rick is no wild-eyed bomb-thrower but a
very sensible, insightful, and extremely well informed progressive
advocate who has a solid critique of the neoliberal framework being
imposed upon the Greeks. Moreover, Rick sees the Greek debt crisis as
being a prelude to what America itself will undoubtedly experience
somewhere further down the road. So -- with apologies to the poor
Greeks -- we should learn what we can from their struggle.

If you like the podcast please don't hesitate to forward the link.
