Supreme Court Denies United Nation's Ploy To Teach Climate Warming As Real: First U.N. Must Prove Scientific Credibility Of Their Global Warming Claims By Means Of Legally Competent Evidence.

CFACT's mulitple award-winning Climate Depot published an exclusive 321 page report in December of over 1000 scientists who dissent over claims of man-made global warming. The report was submitted as key scientific evidence in a high profile and victorious court case before the Montana Supreme Court.

More B.O. Than Anyone Can Stand

By Ralph Alter

America has gotten a steady whiff of B.O. emanating from the White House and its environs for two and a half years now, and even those notoriously asnomic leftists closest to our foundering President are holding their noses.

Obama's devoted followers, mainly the leftist simpletons in the press claque, continue to find imaginative new ways to structure polling questions designed to maintain the illusion that B.O. is not only still popular, but well-nigh unbeatable. While Gallup reports that a generic Republican now beats Obama by 5 points, take into consideration that the polling sample includes twice as many Democrats as constitute the actual voting population and includes only those with primitive land-line telephones who are so bored and out-of-touch with the real world that they are willing to answer their land-line and reveal their politically correct inability to tell the truth about America's Biggest Loser for fear of being labeled a racist.

The fact of the matter is that if the election were to be held today, Obama would lose by 5 points to your mother-in-law, by 7 points to Muammar Ghaddafy, and possibly by double digits to Gary Busey.  David Axelrod might think it's still cool to like Obama, but who's taking advice on coolness from a guy with an Hitler comb-over and mustache? Check the photos -- they appear to have separated at birth. Maybe the people watching Jersey Shore still think it's cool to be stupid, but they aren't very likely to be able to carry the election for Obie Done.

With all the talk about the weakness of the current crop of Republican presidential candidates, did you ever stop to think how the Flower of Affirmative Action got nominated in the first place? The Democrat slate was so weak in 2008 that über-sleazoid John Edwards was a serious contender and actually bamboozled 4.5 delegates to vote for him at the convention, despite the fact that he was battling with National Enquirer reporters in hotel bathrooms to keep his baby-mama under wraps.  Other serious contenders included the morally bankrupt Chris Dodd, the charismatically bankrupt New Mexico governor, Bill Richardson, the intellectually bankrupt Joe Biden and the spiritually, philosophically, and morphologically bankrupt queen of spite and smoocher of the Arafats, Hillary Clinton.  Did I leave out Dennis Kucinich?  Doesn't every serious person leave out Dennis Kucinich?

Never mind that pre-Tea Party Republicans allowed the media and the cross-over primary voting processes in several states to choose Senator Doofus of Arizona as our candidate, a man who deservedly served as the caboose in his graduating class from the Naval Academy. McCain is such a pitiful excuse for a Republican that he makes the other RINOs look Reaganesque in comparison.

The B.O. Media has already found its 2012 version of McCain and is scavenging to gin up support for Jon Huntsman. He's pals with B.O. and the Chinese and believes in global warming. I guess you could say that Romney and Huntsman are members of the Latter Day Republicans.

Huntsman, like his aisle-crossing predecessor McCain, may just be the only nominally Republican candidate incapable of thrashing the golfing, basketball playing, ice-cream cone eating, Israel-bashing, United Kingdom-dissing, czar-appointing, bowing and scraping impostor currently spending America's money like an aircraft carrier full of drunken sailors.  Huntsman's speeches all have that John McCain coda: "I respect the President."

Trouble is, fewer and fewer do. Conservatives believe he is a socialist and redistributionist. Liberals think he's taken on too many of George Bush's policies.  Moderates don't really believe much of anything anyway, but you can bet they concur with the libs and conservatives that B.O. is a liar.  It's gotten so bad that when B.O. tried to suggest to his own Democratic National Committee that his administration had created over 2.1 million jobs in the past 15 months, the closed caption script suggested laughter.  Of course he has since gotten the Huffington Post and his WH staff to switch the description from "Laughter" to "Applause," but the Caesar from Indonesia is no longer fooling anybody.

If it weren't for the torrential rains across the Midwest and the unusual tornado activity there, people in Idaho would be able to smell this administration, whose policies decidedly stink on ice. His foreign policies are Carteresque, his economic policies are Hooveresque, and his administration's ethics are Clintonesque.  B.O.'s approach to the Presidency is so abhorrent, that he may actually be able to accomplish something that even Jimmy Carter couldn't do: he might actually lose the votes of liberal Jewish Americans.

It must have been hard for the crossover voters like Christopher Buckley and Peggy Noonan in 2008 to pull the lever in the voting booth while holding their noses. It should be even harder in 2012 with the other hand held over their eyes. You can bet B.O. will find some new ACORN style assistants to help out in the voting booth, but even that won't be enough.

B.O. is Hawaiian toast. The latest polls show that merely 30% of voters intend to vote for Obama in 2012. Support for B.O. is falling like the Roadrunner with an anvil racing off a cliff. He will be lucky to carry Hawaii and Bernie Sanders. B.O.unbeatable? B.S.

F.B.I. Seizes Web Servers, Knocking Sites Offline

By VERNE G. KOPYTOFF

9:22 p.m. | Updated Adding additional comments from DigitalOne.

6:16 p.m. | Updated Adding that the F.B.I. did not comment.

6:55 p.m. | Updated Adding comments from Curbed Network and Instapaper.

7:35 p.m. | Updated Adding comment from DigitalOne.

The F.B.I. seized Web servers in a raid on a data center early Tuesday, causing several Web sites, including those run by the New York publisher Curbed Network, to go offline.

The raid happened at 1:15 a.m. at a hosting facility in Reston, Va., used by DigitalOne, which is based in Switzerland, the company said. The F.B.I. did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the raid.

In an e-mail to one of its clients on Tuesday afternoon,  DigitalOne's chief executive, Sergej Ostroumow, said: "This problem is caused by the F.B.I., not our company. In the night F.B.I. has taken 3 enclosures with equipment plugged into them, possibly including your server — we cannot check it."

Mr. Ostroumow said that the F.B.I. was only interested in one of the company's clients but had taken servers used by "tens of clients."

He wrote: "After F.B.I.'s unprofessional 'work' we can not restart our own servers, that's why our Web site is offline and support doesn't work." The company's staff had been working to solve the problem for the previous 15 hours, he said.

Mr. Ostroumow said in response to e-mailed questions that it was not clear if the issues would be resolved by Wednesday.

A government official who declined to be named said earlier in the day that the F.B.I. was actively investigating the Lulz Security group and any affiliated hackers. The official said the F.B.I. had teamed up with other agencies in this effort, including the Central Intelligence Agency and cybercrime bureaus in Europe.

Mr. Ostroumow declined to name the company targeted by the F.B.I. and said that he did not know why it had drawn their interest. It was also unclear why the agents took more servers with them than they sought, he said.

The sites of the Curbed Network, including popular blogs covering real estate, restaurants and other topics, were all unavailable Tuesday evening. Lockhart Steele, Curbed's president, said his team realized that the company's sites were down at around 3 a.m. and contacted DigitalOne. After initially declining to say what had happened, DigitalOne explained that the F.B.I. had raided the data center, Mr. Steele said.

"Our servers happened to be in with some naughty servers," he said, adding that his sites were not the target of the raid. Curbed is working to get its sites back online, probably by Wednesday.

The raid also affected a server used by Instapaper, a popular service that saves articles for later reading. Marco Arment, Instapaper's founder, said he lost contact with a server hosted by DigitalOne early on Tuesday. Instapaper's Web site is still operating but has slowed somewhat. Mr. Arment said he had not heard from DigitalOne or law enforcement, and had no reason to believe that Instapaper was a target of the raid.

Pinboard, a bookmarking site, was operating on a backup server and some of its features were turned off, a post on its site said.

DigitalOne provided all necessary information to pinpoint the servers for a specific I.P. address, Mr. Ostroumow said. However, the agents took entire server racks, perhaps because they mistakenly thought that "one enclosure is = to one server," he said in an e-mail.

DigitalOne had no employees on-site when the raid took place. The data center operator, from which DigitalOne leases space, passed along the information about the raid three hours after it started with the name of the agent and a phone number to call.

Before learning of the raid, Mr. Ostroumow, who is in Switzerland with the rest of his team, thought the problem was a technical glitch.

Economy in the tank. Unemployment still high. What's a President to do? Obama to attend three NY fundraisers

Scotty Starnes | June 23, 2011 at 11:50 AM | Tags: fundraising, New York, Obama, President Obama | Categories: Political Issues | URL: http://wp.me/pvnFC-5vZ

Working hard...at screwing the taxpayers

Remember, he wakes up with one thing on his mind. To bad it's not  fixing the economy or the need to concentrate on job creation. It's his need to get reelected at any cost.

Politico reports:

President Obama is returning to New York City on Thursday and is looking to raise big money for his reelection campaign.

Obama has three fundraisers planned in the Big Apple. The first one, at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers, is for gay supporters and coincides with the evolution, so to speak, of a bill in the state that would make gay marriage legal.

More pandering to special interest groups. I wonder if Obama will speak with a lisp? (He tends to change his dialect depending on what groups he speaks to)

The audience at his second Democratic National Committee fundraiser of the night, at the four-star restaurant Daniel, will be made up of Wall Street donors.

These are those "fat-cats" Obama claims to dislike...but he loves their money.

And the last event of the evening, at Broadway, will be with Whoopi Goldberg.

Spending time with a ex-coke head. Hey didn't Obama admit to being a coke-head in college? Birds of a feather...

The fun starts just after 7 p.m. at the Sheraton and won't end until after 10 p.m. Obama will take a late flight from New York City to Pittsburgh afterward and spend the night in Pennsylvania.

How is all this fundraising helping the economy or creating jobs? The taxpayers are footing the bill so Obama can collect cash to tell us more lies.

*German Economic Historian Albrecht Ritschl* has some fun with his
fellow citizens
<http://www.spiegel.de/international/germany/0,1518,769703,00.html>.

*SPIEGEL ONLINE:* Mr. Ritschl, Germany is coming across like a
know-it-all in the debate over aid for Greece. Berlin is
intransigent and is demanding obedience from Athens. Is this
attitude justified?

*Ritschl:* No, there is no basis for it.

*SPIEGEL ONLINE:* Most Germans would likely disagree.

*Ritschl:* That may be, but during the 20th century, Germany was
responsible for what were the biggest national bankruptcies in
recent history. It is only thanks to the United States, which
sacrificed vast amounts of money after both World War I and World
War II, that Germany is financially stable today and holds the
status of Europe's headmaster. That fact, unfortunately, often seems
to be forgotten.

But Professor Ritschl will happy to remind them, from his safe perch at
the London School of Economics <http://personal.lse.ac.uk/ritschl/>.

*Presidents, Congress, And The Economy: *Presidents, like quarterbacks,
get too much credit for good results, and too much blame for bad
results. In contrast, Congress, like offensive lines, gets too little
credit, and too little blame.

It's an argument I've made before, but it's an argument that requires
repeating, since so few "mainstream" journalists understand the point.
Even economists — who you would think would know better — make this mistake.

I was reminded of that by this Greg Mankiw post
<http://gregmankiw.blogspot.com/2011/06/preaching-to-choir.html>, where
he takes Paul Krugman
<http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/06/22/reagan-and-revenues/> to
task for an odd choice of dates.

What strikes me about Paul's blog post, however, is how completely
unconvincing it is. He uses a chart that starts the Reagan era in
1979, arguing we need to correct for the business cycle. But would
or should this persuade anyone?

The null hypothesis being tested is that Reagan policies had a
significant effect on revenue growth. But would any believer in that
null hypothesis include the last couple years of the Carter
administration as part of the Reagan era? Weren't the policies of
those years precisely what Reagan was trying to reverse? Maybe
Paul's chart might appeal to someone who already agrees with him,
but I thought economists turned to data to try to persuade those who
are truly undecided. It is hard to see how this presentation of the
data would move someone who is yet to make up his mind.

(I am trying to match Mankiw's politeness when I say "odd".)

Mankiw ends by crediting the Internet bubble for the good economic news
in the last Clinton years.

Let's review: During all eight Reagan years, Democrats controlled the
House; during his last two years, Democrats controlled the Senate as
well. It is true that Reagan was able to win majority support in the
House for some of his measures, especially in his first two years,
against the Democratic leadership. But it is also true that the
Democratic House majority forced Reagan to change many of his policies,
for example, to continue spending on programs that he would have
preferred to end.

So the good — and bad — results of the Reagan years can not be
attributed to Reagan alone, but must be shared with Congress, especially
the Democratic House majority. We can not know exactly what shares
should attributed to each, since we can not run history over again,
changing only the control of Congress.

You can extend my argument to the first Bush administration, without
much effort. Unlike Reagan, George H. W. Bush never had a friendly
majority in the House or the Senate, so the credit and blame for those
years goes more to the Democrats in Congress than in the Reagan years.

For the Clinton years, we need to review again: Clinton came in with a
large House majority
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_House_of_Representatives_elections,_1992>
(258-176) and a solid Senate majority
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Senate_elections,_1992>
(57-43). Clinton, with the support of those majorities, increased taxes,
including on the middle class, and spending, but failed to pass his
health care "reform" plan.

Economic results during those first two Clinton years were unimpressive.
The economy continued the recovery begun during 1991, but did not pick
up much momentum.

In 1994, as we all know, Republicans took over control of the House and
the Senate. Under the leadership of Speaker Newt Gingrich and Majority
Leader Bob Dole, they cut spending and restrained regulation. Since they
had to get Clinton's agreement for their changes, they were unable to go
as far as they would have liked, but they did succeed in getting him to
sign on to welfare reform, on their third try.

After the Republican takeover of Congress, the recovery picked up speed.
And for that, Gingrich and Dole probably deserve more credit than
Clinton. Probably because, again, we can not run history over again just
changing the party controlling Congress.

(And the low energy prices during Clinton's eight years probably owe
more than a little to Bush's victory in the first Gulf War.)

The second Bush administration is harder to analyze because, even when
George W. Bush had Republican majorities, they were so narrow that it
constrained his policy-making seriously. He was unable, for example, to
control wasteful spending on farm subsidies, and unable, as Professor
Mankiw knows, to restrain Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Which would have
saved us several hundred billion, real money, even now.

And his efforts to reform entitlements got no support at all from
Democrats in Congress.

Credit — and blame — for the economic results of those eight Bush years
must be shared even more than usual.

(Of course, there are many other people who can help or hurt our
economy. In 1991 and 1992, President Bush was unhappy with the Federal
Reserve because he thought their monetary policy was too tight,
correctly as far as I can tell. But there was no way that Bush could
change those policies by himself.

Nor does the help, or damage, have to come from someone in government. A
brilliant inventor may spark an economic boom that owes nothing to
government policy.)

*South African President Jacob Zuma Doesn't Fear President Obama: *
Which explains why he felt safe snubbing First Lady Michelle Obama
<http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/michelle-obama/8589715/Jacob-Zuma-snubs-Michelle-Obama-during-First-Ladys-South-Africa-visit.html>.

South Africa President Jacob Zuma has snubbed the visiting Michelle
Obama by sending his prisons minister to meet the first lady at the
airport and failing to see her during her three-day stay.

His prisons minister! (Officially,Corrective Services Minister.)

Zuma knows how to insult a visiting dignitary. And just to add to the
insult, only one of his three wives was allowed to meet Michelle Obama,
and that very briefly.

(What's Zuma mad about? Most recently the attacks on Libya. Many African
leaders think that even the most corrupt and dictatorial African leaders
should be left in power.)

*Obama's Speech Last Night Was Not Churchillian: *By now, that should
not surprise anyone who has been paying attention. President Obama might
be able to /read/ a Churchillian speech if one appeared on his
teleprompter, but he could not write one, and he certainly doesn't
believe in Churchill's resolute defense of freedom and democracy.

Somewhat to my surprise, when I searched through the speech
<http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/270303/text-obamas-afghanistan-speech-nro-staff>
for the word "victory", I found it.

And thanks to our intelligence professionals and Special Forces, we
killed Osama bin Laden, the only leader that al Qaeda had ever
known. This was a victory for all who have served since 9/11. One
soldier summed it up well. "The message," he said, "is we don't
forget. You will be held accountable, no matter how long it takes."

And he even uses "defeat" in the next paragraph.

But that's the only place in the speech where he uses a concept so
foreign to most on the American left, and so essential to any thinking
about war.

This passage is more typical:

Of course, huge challenges remain. This is the beginning — but not
the end — of our effort to wind down this war. We will have to do
the hard work of keeping the gains that we have made, while we
drawdown our forces and transition responsibility for security to
the Afghan government. And next May, in Chicago, we will host a
summit with our NATO allies and partners to shape the next phase of
this transition.

We do know that peace cannot come to a land that has known so much
war without a political settlement.

(And we know that how?)

His language in that selection has become so familiar to many on the
left that I must take a minute to explain why it sounds so silly to
others. (This is how I would explain it to Obama.) Suppose you were in a
football locker room at half time and you were listening to the coach
give his half time pep talk. Suppose that the coach told his players
that, in the second half, they would "wind down" the game. You'd think
that the coach was nuts, right? Football games, like wars, can be won,
lost, or tied; they can't be wound down.

We can extend this metaphor by going on to the next paragraph. Coach
Obama is telling our team that we are ahead, but that the game can only
end in a tie.

There's another word that's almost entirely missing from the speech,
"military". At the beginning, Obama tells us that he ordered the surge
on the advice of our "military commanders". So one would expect him to
say, further on, that those same commanders are telling him that it is
safe to draw down the troops. But he can't say that, because it isn't
true. As anyone who has followed this knows, General Petraeus
<http://nationaljournal.com/obama-sided-with-gates-over-petraeus-in-afghanistan-troop-decision-20110623>,
who probably knows more about military questions than President Obama
does, is opposed to the draw down. And so, I suspect, are almost all the
other military commanders.

Obama's plan does not make sense militarily, but it does make sense
politically. As practically everyone has noticed, the timing will allow
Obama to claim credit for the draw down before next year's election.
(Note, for instance, the timing and place of that NATO meeting, if you
are wondering how the Obama political team plans to play this.) And,
most likely, before the costs of the draw down become apparent, even to
our slothful "mainstream" reporters.

(The move of Petraeus to the CIA can also be understood politically. The
Obama administration is moving a potentially dangerous critic to a
position where he can do less damage.)

*Has Congressman Alcee Hastings Been A Bad Boy? * Possibly
<http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304887904576400053258305010.html>.

A congressional ethics panel is investigating allegations that
Florida Democratic Rep. Alcee Hastings sexually harassed a member of
his staff, according to people familiar with the matter.

The investigation of Mr. Hastings is being conducted by the Office
of Congressional Ethics, the House's independent ethics
investigative arm, and it is at a preliminary stage.

It began at least a month ago after Judicial Watch, a conservative
group, filed a lawsuit as the legal counsel for Winsome Packer, a
staffer on a commission Mr. Hastings headed. She alleged that she
had been sexually harassed by the congressman and that he retaliated
when she tried to report it.

Aaron Worthing
<http://patterico.com/2011/06/22/alcee-hastings-investigated-for-sexual-harrassment/>
and Ann Althouse
<http://althouse.blogspot.com/2011/06/it-would-be-impossible-for-me-in.html>
think there might be something to the complaint.

(Long-time readers will recall that this is not his first

ethical problem. Not many federal judges get impeached by the House and
removed by the Senate.)

*The Continuing Mystery Of Hugo Chávez's Illness: *The /Wall Street
Journal/ has a long article
<http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304070104576399961115943884.html?mod=WSJ_World_MIDDLENews>
that begins with this paragraph:

Venezuela's voluble and ubiquitous President Hugo Chávez hasn't
returned to the public eye after a surgery in Cuba that has friends
and foes alike speculating about the state of his health and the
future of his rule.

And then describes the speculation at some length, without ever coming
up with a plausible explanation for his illness, and his long stay in
Cuba. (As I have said earlier, Chávez may be staying in Cuba in order to
keep his illness secret
<http://www.seanet.com/%7Ejimxc/Politics/June2011_2.html#jrm9989>, but
that's just a guess.)

How sick is Chávez? Fausta has a telling detail
<http://faustasblog.com/?p=26579>.

Everybody is speculating as to Chavez's malady, particularly since
Chavez, who for years has done his interminable TV and radio shows
several times per week (averaging 43 minutes /per day/ since he took
power in 1999), has limited himself to a single telephone call into
state-run television.

As the /Journal/ article and a later post
<http://faustasblog.com/?p=26615> by Fausta note, there are
constitutional problems with his long stay in Cuba.

(One can understand why he might not want to go back to Venezuela, even
if he were well. The country has a horrific prison riot and electricity
rationing, both caused, in part, by his regime's incompetence.)

Survey: Voters think most reporters are liberal, try to help
candidates they favor

/*Rasmussen Reports*/
<http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/general_politics/june_2011/46_say_average_reporter_is_more_liberal_than_they_are>
Rasmussen Reports, in a telephone survey conducted earlier this week,
found that male voters are more skeptical than women voters of
reporters' integrity and also feel more strongly that the average
reporter is more liberal than they are. Younger voters are less likely
then their elders to think reporters are more liberal. More findings:

* 67 percent of likely voters believe that most reporters, when covering
a politician campaign, try to help the candidate they want to win; 21
percent think most reporters put the emphasis instead on trying to offer
unbiased coverage. Twelve percent aren't sure.

* 48 percent believe that most reporters would hide any damaging
information they learned to help the candidate they wanted to win.
Twenty-nine percent disagree and 23 percent aren't sure.

* 46 percent of voters feel that the average reporter is more liberal
than they are. Eighteen percent say the average reporter is more
conservative than they are, while 22 percent think their views are about
the same. Fourteen percent are undecided.

* 78 percent of political conservatives think the average reporter is
more liberal than they are. Among liberals, 38 percent think the average
reporter is more conservative than they are, while 31 percent believe
their views are about the same.

The Washington Post's Jason Horowitz wrote about the Rasmussen Reports
founder
<http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/06/16/AR2010061605090.html>
last June:

A co-founder of the sports network ESPN and former play-by-play
broadcaster, Scott Rasmussen is an articulate and frequent guest on
Fox News and other outlets, where his nominally nonpartisan data is
often cited to support Republican talking points. In October, he
hired his own communications director to handle the daily deluge of
press calls.

You obviously have not been paying much attention to the news
lately. When you have the MSM covering the vacation of Sarah Palin
the way they have, including paparazzi-style chasing of her van,
and you have the assignment of reporters to the emails released by
the state of Alaska, then it is obvious that the MSM is slanted.
Add to that the almost total lack of investigation of the
background of the president going back to when he first started
running for the office and still ongoing. In addition add the
reporting on Bush during the 2004 election by the major networks
which backfired thanks to the bloggers who followed up and proved
that it was all a lie. The public has seen the results of
reporting when they have been interviewed and then find that what
is reported has almost nothing in common with what went on in the
interview. The result is that the public has seen the bias for
themselves to the point that lately the profession of journalism
is ranked on about the same level as that of bad used car salesmen
and ambulance chasing lawyers and pitchmen on TV.

Worth noting that Rasmussen conducts automated phone polling and
doesn't appear to have provided respondents any definition of
"reporter." Without one, I'd contend the poll is basically
worthless because you have no idea who or what those responding
considered to be a reporter, though it's highly likely their
conception goes far beyond that of conventional journalism
reporters to include commentators, TV show hosts, bloggers, etc.

Steeped as they are in an ideological monoculture, of course
journalists are incapable of recognizing their own cultural and
political biases. Isn't it long past time the profession opened
itself up to true "diversity?"

Consistently and systematically ignoring, or showing open
contempt, for the values, experiences and lifestyles of more than
half your potential market is not exactly a viable business model
for an industry in decline.

LMAO - and you accuse others of monoculture? The only group more
hidebound and pig-headed than the post-Vietnam military reporters
was the post-Vietnam military staffers, especially PAOs.

How do I know? Been on both sides for decades, including most of
the '70s and early '80 on active duty, a couple more decades in
the Reserves and almost 30 years as a military reporter, editor
and - for a few years now - in a PAO shop myself.

I agree, Rod -- except for that bit about being hard on polls they
like. A very small minority of reporters go after pols they DON'T
like, thus helping the candidates they prefer. I have seen this
happen but it is rare and not tolerated when found out. Newsrooms
are also no doubt plurality liberal, with independent/no opinion
coming in 2nd. I'd say libertarians and conservatives like me
account for no more than 8 or 10 percent of the newsroom staffs of
the nation.

I think overall, your percentage of non-liberals is too low - when
you take into account smaller metros and mid-sized and smaller
dailies, etc. Philosopihcal (as opposed to party type)
libertarians probably outnumber conservatives by a wide margin.

Most reporters quickly become cynical about government and
politicians and their ability to do anything positive, regardless
of their political leanings coming into the business.

And certainly the majority of "fly over country" markets have
decidedly conservative, pro-business editorial stances.

These kinds of polls are skewed by the perceptions of the few Big
papers - and even more so, TV news.

Not surprising, but largely off-base. Over a couple decades
reporting and editing, my experience has been that reporters tend
to be harder on politicians they like, especially if they uncover
any kind of damaging information.

And with very rare exceptions, a front page scoop trumps political
leanings - right, left or otherwise.
