Eric Peters proves that the old adage is true:  "Opinions are like assholes, and every body has one".....

Why Casey Anthony Got Away With It…
by Eric Peters

I know why child-killer Casey Anthony was found (cough) "not guilty."

It's the same reason why American drivers – most of them – will never dare turn right on red (even if the way is obviously clear) or pass a slowpoke over the double yellow, even if the double yellow used to be an official passing zone but was just recently painted over.

It's The Law.

The American mindset has undergone a startling metamorphosis. I grew up in the '70s, when WW II-era Bugs Bunny and Woody Woodpecker cartoons were still on the air, unedited. These cartoons reflected an American mentality that has been almost completely snuffed out. A don't-trust-authority (and use your own best judgment) mentality combined with a BS detector of tremendous sensitivity. Bugs Bunny was a snarky individualist who busted balls – and took no ball-busting from anyone, even if they had a badge. In fact, Bugs tolerated it even less if they had a badge or wore a black dress or some other Official Costume. Ditto Woody Woodpecker – the pre-sanitized, politically (very) incorrect version, anyhow.

Now we have a generation reared on Tele-Tubbies. Soft, passive. Wait to be Told What To Do.

And whatever you do, don't think.

These are the people who sat as jurors for the Casey Anthony trial – the same people who will never disobey a No Right on Red sign or any other law, rule or edict. Because they've been well-trained (and increasingly, thoroughly doped-up since they were tots). Never exercise initiative. Don't question.

Submit. Obey.

In the trial, the hideous totality of evidence presented that Anthony killed her kid, then covered it up, counted for naught because the Jots and Tittles of The Law had not been satisfied – according to the tortured interpretation and admonitions of shyster lawyers. Instead of ignoring the shysters' pedantic sophistry and using their own best judgment as to what really mattered – did this woman kill her kid? – they chose to follow The Law. If, for example, they were told by the man in the black dress to ignore damning evidence because said damning evidence was not presented in quite the proper way, they would actually throw a switch inside their heads and exclude said damning evidence from their (cough) deliberations. Reason – hell, common sense – never enters into it. Just whatever arbitrary construct The Law presents them as the template for their actions (and non-actions).

It's the same mindset that causes decent people to forgo the means of self-defense if The Law says that only criminals may possess them. It never occurs to them that obeying The Law is less important than staying alive – The Law be damned.

The same mindset that instills the depressing automatic compliance which increasingly characterizes the Modern American – whether it makes any sense to comply or not.

The other day I was heading down the mountain (as we say around here) when I rolled up behind a CloverCluster. The leader was not a Clover – just a VDOT tractor with a long arm that was cutting overgrowth along the shoulder. Behind it were the Clovers – two of them. Neither would even try to pass the tractor, even though the sight lines ahead were good for more than a quarter mile. The official-looking VDOT tractor with its blinking orange lights was a dazzling incarnation of The Law to these Clovers. So even though the tractor operator was not a cop and had no power to cite anyone for anything – much less pursue anyone to present a citation – the Clovers cringed in deference, patiently awaiting to be told when it was OK to pass.

Not I. This Bugs Bunny-reared Gen Xer evaluated the situation, saw it was perfectly safe to pass – and did so. Double yellow (and orange blinking lights) be damned. Much to the absolute horror of the two Clovers, one of whom did the pathetic flashing of his car's headlights and tooting of his horn at me as I sailed past. I have no doubt he spent the rest of the day angrily denouncing me as a reckless Law Breaker to anyone within his Roche limit.

I will not cotton to the first – but eagerly embrace the second. When a law makes sense, I abide by it. Interestingly, laws that make sense – especially laws that make moral sense – are laws we really don't need anyhow. Because we should not need to be told by a law to do what is obviously right – and to not do that which is obviously wrong. Laws are mostly if not entirely for the Clovers. People who are no longer capable of exercising judgment (perhaps they never were) and who lack the capacity to reason a thing out and ask themselves: Is this harmful or not?

Non-Clovers don't need laws to tell them not to steal, beat people up or commit fraud because they are intellectually and morally awake. Clovers are asleep, just as the Tele-Tubbies intended.

End result? Casey Anthony is free and soon to be a millionaire.

And you and I are stuck behind that Clover up ahead, who just won't move over… .

Because it's The Law!

*n That Case, The World Had Better Pay Up: *That was my first (and
admittedly ill-tempered) reaction to this story
<http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/0,1518,774666,00.html> from
Germany.

The mass-circulation Bild writes:

"Playing poker is part of politics, as is theatrical posturing.
That's fair enough. But what America is currently exhibiting is
the worst kind of absurd theatrics. And the whole world is being
held hostage."

"Irrespective of what the correct fiscal and economic policy should
be for the most powerful country on earth, it's simply not possible
to stop taking on new debt overnight. Most importantly, the
Republicans have turned a dispute over a technicality into a
religious war, which no longer has any relation to a reasonable
dispute between the elected government and the opposition."

Because there isn't a nation in the world that is capable of mounting a
hostage rescue mission against the US.

I might not have reacted so sharply to that collection of German
reactions to our crisis, if it were not for this fact: Not one of the
selections that /Der Spiegel/ published mentioned President Obama's
failure to /even present a plan/ to solve our long-term fiscal problems.
But it is the Republicans these news organizations blame, mostly.

(Here's a description of /Bild/ <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bild>, if
you are wondering what kind of newspaper it is.)

TOP 8 MORONS OF 2010

1..   WILL THE REAL DUMMY PLEASE STAND UP?  AT&T fired President John Walter after nine months, saying he lacked intellectual leadership.  He received a $26 million severance package.  Perhaps it's not Walter who's lacking intelligence.

2..   WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM OUR FRIENDS.  Police in Oakland , CA , spent two hours attempting to subdue a gunman who had barricaded himself inside his home.  After firing ten tear gas canisters, officers discovered that the man was standing beside them in the police line, shouting, 'Please come out and give yourself up.'

3..   WHAT WAS PLAN B???  An Illinois man, pretending to have a gun, kidnapped a motorist and forced him to drive to two different automated teller machines, wherein the kidnapper proceeded to withdraw money from his own bank accounts!

4..   THE GETAWAY!  A man walked into a Topeka , Kansas Kwik Stop and asked for all the money in the cash drawer.  Apparently, the take was too small, so he tied up the store clerk and worked the counter himself for three hours until police showed up and grabbed him.

5..   DID I SAY THAT???  Police in Los Angeles had good luck with a robbery suspect who just couldn't control himself during a lineup.  When detectives asked each man in the lineup to repeat the words:'Give me all your money or I'll shoot', the man shouted, 'that's not what I said!'

6..   ARE WE COMMUNICATING???  A man spoke frantically into the phone: 'My wife is pregnant and her contractions are only two minutes apart'.  'Is this her first child?' the doctor asked. 'No!' the man shouted, 'This is her husband!'

7..   NOT THE SHARPEST TOOL IN THE SHED!  In Modesto , CA , Steven Richard King was arrested for trying to hold up a Bank of America branch without a weapon.  King used a thumb and a finger to simulate a gun.  Unfortunately, he failed to keep his hand in his pocket. (hellooooooo)!

8..   THE GRAND FINALE!!!  Last summer, down on Lake Isabella, located in the high desert an hour east of Bakersfield, CA, some folks new to boating, were having a problem.  No matter how hard they tried, they couldn't get their brand new  22 foot boat going. It was very sluggish in almost every maneuver, no matter how much power they applied.  After about an hour of trying to make it go, they putted into a nearby marina, thinking someone there may be able to tell them what was wrong.  A thorough topside check revealed everything in perfect working condition. The engine ran fine, the out-drive went up and down, and the propeller was the correct size and pitch.  So, one of the marina guys jumped in the water to check underneath. He came up choking on water, he was laughing so hard.

NOW REMEMBER...THIS IS TRUE. Under the boat, still strapped securely in place, was the trailer!

Tennessee passes law criminalizing posting of any image that someone finds offensive

Sunday, June 12, 2011 by: J. D. Heyes

(NaturalNews) Just when you thought lawmaking in America couldn't get any more ridiculous comes a new piece of legislation that quite possibly could be the most outrageous, if not unconstitutional law ever passed.

The geniuses in the Tennessee legislature passed a bill which makes it a crime to "transmit or display an image" online that is likely to "frighten, intimidate or cause emotional distress" to anyone who sees it. Gov. Bill Haslam perpetuated the idiocy when he signed it into law last week.

As if the United States didn't already jail more people than Russia or China, persons found guilty of violating this new legal monstrosity could face a year in prison along with a $2,500 fine.

Only, who gets to decide what is likely to "frighten, intimidate or cause emotional distress" to someone? Doesn't everyone find something emotionally stressful or frightening? Couldn't someone find a picture of a teddy bear, a flower or even a baby offensive and distressing?

What's more, the "victim" need not even be the intended recipient of the image. "Anyone who sees the image is a potential victim. If a court decides you "should have known" that an image you posted would be upsetting to someone who sees it, you could face months in prison and thousands of dollars in fines," says a report detailing the provisions of the bill.

Besides the obvious insult to personal liberties and the sheer lunacy of this act, it also gives state law enforcement authorities unprecedented access to personal online communications. "The government can get access to 'images or communications' posted to a social networking site by offering 'specific and articulable facts,' suggesting that the information sought is 'relevant and material to an ongoing criminal investigation,'" said the report. So much for any pretense of privacy.

Legal experts are already predicting this piece of "legislation" won't stand. In fact, since Tennessee is within the legal purview of the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court, "it is bound by that court's Warshak decision, which held that the Fourth Amendment requires the government to obtain a full search warrant in order to access e-mail communications," the report said.

It boggles the mind how such legislation can even be introduced, much less passed and signed into law. The collective I.Q. of the entire Tennessee legislature must have fallen three dozen points or more after this turkey hit the books.

We can almost hear the lawyers stampeding to court over this one. If we could buy stock in the outcome of court cases, it would be hard to pass up investing in this sure thing.

NUGENT: You have the right to remain stupid

Fedzillacrats are oblivious to self-evident truths

By Ted Nugent

The Washington Times

6:28 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2011

<ATT00225.jpg>Illustration: Fedzilla zookeepers

You have the right to remain stupid, and what you say and do can and will be used against you in the court of public opinion. Unfortunately, the court of public opinion is expanding into a stupid-is-as-stupid-does joke. And it has a president and gang of thieves in the United States government to represent it.

So goes the sheeping of America. Welcome to Euro II.

With the level of dishonesty, fraud, abuse of power, corruption, rampant irresponsibility, downright criminal behavior and vehement refusal to be accountable, our government has clearly lost its collective mind - and its soul.

The brain-dead, zombielike nonsense blurting out of Democrats' pie holes is mind-boggling as they feebly attempt to rationalize raising the debt ceiling, scrambling mindlessly to explain how increased runaway, criminal spending on gluttonous, wasteful, superfluous stuff is a good thing.

"Honey, we're in debt up to our asses. Let's go shopping and increase our gluttonous indulgences. Yeah, that's the ticket."

Is there a Dr. Phil or an Oprah to counsel psychotic bureaucrats? Somebody has to put a halt to this insanity as quickly as possible. We the people of the Tea Party are trying with all our might but there must be somebody in government that can stop this. Somebody?

The separation of legislative, executive and judicial branches of government has turned into one big gang of complicit goons, scratching each other's backs and scheming to increase their own dishonest assault on we the people. Oh, how they have forgotten their oath to the U.S. Constitution. Oh, woe are they.

A nasty, unclean gaggle of Americans read the nonstop reports of mass graves in Mexico, the mountains of dead bodies, the unending exhuming of slaughtered innocents and decapitated citizens and public officials at the hands of evil drug cartels, then nonchalantly purchase another load of the mind- and life-destroying dope that these subhuman heathens peddle. You have to be on dope in order to fail to admit how your illegal or "medical" marijuana consumption creates wanton death and mayhem in your own communities and country. Thanks for nothing, idiots.

Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae and their complicit gang of America-hating snake-oil salesmen represent the most clear and present economic raping and pillaging in our country's history. Instead of ending the tragedy, the perpetrators are given bonuses and hired by our already-criminal-infested government. And they call it "creating jobs." Mao Zedong and Al Capone would be proud.

In the American West, where inhabitants have been raising hell for 20-plus years about how grizzly bears pose a serious and constant threat to people's lives and livelihoods, inept, ignorant bureaucrats enforce dangerous policy by calling these overpopulated bears an endangered species. A hiker gets killed by a grizzly again and these geniuses respond by reminding people to whistle and bang on pots and pans.

In the middle of a war on terror, invaders infiltrate our southern border with impunity and instead of living up to their oath to protect America, soulless Fedzillacrats erect signs on American soil not warning the invaders to leave but rather warning American citizens to stay out of the invaded territory. Meanwhile, the feds sue Arizona for enforcing American laws.

Charlie Rangel, Tim Geithner, Tom Daschle and God knows how many other criminal tax cheats get caught red-handed, and none of them are brought to anything resembling justice. Are you kidding me?

Former Chicago Mayor Richard Daley and current Mayor Rahm Emanuel, along with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, forbid their subjects to protect themselves but charge their subjects higher taxes to pay for their own heavily armed security detail.

Texas rightly decides to execute a convicted murderer-rapist of an innocent little girl and the president and secretary of state side with the murderous, rotten-to-the-core United Nations goons instead of with their own country. Are you kidding me?

I end up in a state-of-the-art emergency room at a Canadian hospital with a serious blood-gushing dog bite and wait 6 1/2 hours to see a doctor. In Waco, Texas, I wait less than a minute. Our fearless community-organizer-in-chief wants to fundamentally transform American health care into Canadian health care - unless, of course, you qualify for a crony-payoff waiver of this diabolical scam shoved down the throats of we the people. Are you kidding me?

Food stampers increase their fraud and criminal abuse of an already-failed welfare slavery system, and our numbnut politicians let President Obama increase it fourfold. Are you kidding me?

Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven write the ultimate America-hating guideline on how to bring down the greatest quality of life in the history of mankind, and the Obama administration puts their ideas on the fast track in broad daylight, yet no one stops him. Are you kidding me?

Unions continue to demand more compensation for less productivity or quality control. The list of jobs Americans are not willing to do gets longer by the day as soylent-green foreigners continue to kick our butts because they don't allow such a list. Are you kidding me?

With another glaring, smoke-and-mirrors defiance of the pledge to government transparency, the No. 1 cop in America, aided and abetted by the vehemently anti-gun president, knowingly breaks the law and his oath to the Constitution by running illegally begotten guns to Mexican murderers, then tries to blame legitimate American gun dealers. Nothing like a good backfire to spotlight the cockroaches.

I could go on, but I'm getting sick to my stomach, as are an increasing number of American citizens sickened by the flagrant criminality of our government. I would like to go on record that the U.S. government is now more offensive and in violation of self-evident truths and God-given individual rights and liberties than the British government was in 1775.

Make note, bureaucrats. We have had enough, are completely fed up with the insanity and we officially put you on notice: You're fired. When we go to the polls in 2012, we are committed to give most of you a good dose of what unemployment feels like. And from now on, you will have to create your own jobs because governments - especially a bloated, criminally abusive government like we have in America today - is unforgivable, unsustainable and will not be tolerated any longer.

I would highly recommend you all seek treatment for your allergies to logic, truth, good will, decency, accountability and the American Way. If you don't get help soon, God only knows what will become of you.

Because it's The Law!

good morning Keith,

Sounds like quite the adventure you are on.  Please note that not everyone who is liberal thinks that conservatives are dumb, stupid or misinformed.  It is this thinking on both sides of the isle that has brought much contention and dysfunctionality with the government as we know it today.  I believe that the media like to stretch it one way or another so that they sell their schmootz to their listeners and followers-it sales.  There has to be a balance somewhere and there has to be willingness on both sides to engage in a meaningful discourse.  The biggest hindrance between the parties in doing this (my opinion) is that we are too ideologically ingrained now and march to the beat of the ideological drumb.  It makes me very sad to read the posts here where people are cursed at and categorized as retards simply because of a difference of opinion.  We have shifted to a whole level in a decremental fashion where discourse is near meaningless and the exchange of ideas is minimal at best  because their is hardly any meaningful discussion or explanation as to why people think as they do.  We are all adults and do not need to call one another retarded because we do not think alike-let the 8 year-olds on the playground do that.  I will never underestimate the intelligence of a conservative-Karl Rove was brilliant getting Bush to the White House and that said-anyone who thinks that some of these elected officials are not intelligent-are shortsighted in their perspective-for these not so smart elected officials are setting policy (whether we agree with it or not) which is why it is imperative to have mixed parties controlling the Senate, HOR and Executive offices.  No matter what  party is in power, we as citizens can only hope that the best decisions are made (often not the case) and if we are not happy-we need to vote their bottoms out of office and begin anew.  However, that is not so easy since we have the lowest if not one of the lowest election turnouts in all the world.  I have seen things here in this country that if it were anywhere else, citizens in Europe would be in the streets marching in protest.  But we don't.  All we want is what media will feed us- hollywood, professional sports, etc, our mere existence and our gadgets.  If politicians said tomorrow, they planned to ban all internet access and a seizure of all smart phones was to occur-you might get a rise from the average citizen.  But we have become complacent and that is due to ignorance, lack of education about what is happening in the world and Washington, and the blind trust that those who are elected will make choices that are best for this country and this is a dangerous place to be no matter what party you support.

The NYT's writer never challenges any of these hoaxes,  and reports them as factual, accurate and truthful.  The far left extremists also believe this to be an accurate description of what has transpired, just as they believe that raising taxes on less than one percent of the populace, those who are most responsible for creating jobs in this Nation,  and by blaming tax breaks for corporate jets for the entire $14.3 trillion deficit,  will justify the continuous outrageous socialistic style spending spree by the Obama Administration,  all the while, the goal is to continue to rile up the increasingly large number of people who get checks from the government.
