Lyon: 'Allah Akbar' gargoyle on the Lyon Cathedral

Lyon: 'Allah Akbar' gargoyle on the Lyon Cathedral

cid:part1.02050400.06090208@yahoo.com(Novopress)

A new gargoyle was put up on the Lyon cathedral, the seat of the Archbishop of Lyon, in honor of Benzizine Ahmed, the Muslim foreman who led the restoration work on the cathedral tower. The gargoyle stands over a sign saying "Allah Akbar" (God is greatest) in both Arabic and French.

" 'Allah Akbar', everybody agrees with that! It's not as if we wrote that Mohammed is our prophet..." says one of the diocese people. Father Cacaud, rector of the cathedral, wouldn't confirm that agreement was given by the archbishop. The diocese spokespeople said that the builders sometimes take certain liberties outside the sacred area.

Repellin Didier, head architect for historical monuments, says the stonemasons and sculptures of the cathedral have a tradition to portray the people they esteem. Ahmed, who worked for 30 years on the cathedral, is competent and very humble. A quiet man who is appreciated. It's a beautiful human gesture, says Didier.

Daniel, the crepe maker next to the cathedral, says that this wouldn't have been possible at the Church of St. George, referring to the conservative Catholic stronghold. There are many others like him in the Vieux-Lyon district who applaud the efforts of Emmanuel, the stonemason who carved Ahmed's face. Evelyn, one of the worshipers, says that it could help bring the religions together. Jean-Luc Chavent, a storyteller, doesn't fail to stop by the statue with the groups he leads through the historic district.

The crepe-maker says that when Ahmed saw the gargoyle, he was troubled by the resemblance, and so he shaved off his mustache. Quite a few workers joined the work on the sculpture, he says, which surprised the foreman, though he was concerned that it took so long to complete.

Evelyn jokes that when the sun shines, the anti-pigeon spikes on the gargoyle look like two devil honrs. Yet, she's totally taken by the gargoyle, it's symbolism and its impact. Ahmed as diabolical? his personality is described as the antithesis.

CBC has declared war on the Tea Party

Obama's ineligibility: Prepare to defend America – Obama's race war begins

imageThe Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) is out there again in full race-baiting mode.

Having failed to drum up support for Barack Obama in the form of racial hatred by playing the victim card in the infamous Tea Party "N-Word" incident that didn't happen, the CBC is now promoting racial violence against the Tea Party.

Members of the CBC are traveling the country inciting racist hatred, telling audiences that the Tea Party "wants to lynch blacks."

One reader commented:

"Without question the CBC has declared war on the Tea Party which is also known as the American people who are sick and tired of having their wallets raided by the unproductive and the ungrateful and their political champions who principally are the Democratic Party. The CBC's message to the American people, "Sit down, shut up, and pay up." And they are mighty unhappy that the payers don't want to be paying anymore."

The action by the CBC is part of Obama's campaign strategy for the 2012 election, but there is more.

By threatening race riots, Obama has intimidated the entire US Government from questioning his Constitutional eligibility for the Presidency and investigating his forged birth certificate and Selective Service registration and his stolen Social Security Number.

The race riot strategy has worked so well keeping him in office, Obama intends to exploit that threat to get himself re-elected.

The recent racially-motivated flash mob attacks on non-black US citizens have provided dry runs for 2012 and have served as a warning to anyone considering opposing the empty suit now occupying the Oval Office.

Police in West Allis, Wisconsin, say attacks by black teenagers on white people outside the gates of the Wisconsin State Fair on August 4th were racially motivated and should be prosecuted as hate crimes.

The latest cyclist attack in St. Louis, Missouri, occurred on August 25th near the Missouri Botanical Garden where a group of 10 to 15 African-American teens charged and attacked Cheech Ramirez.

According to Ramirez:

"They weren't really interested in robbing me. It just seemed like they wanted to beat me up."

The CBC must be very pleased with the increase in racial violence.

The race war strategy is evil genius with few drawbacks for Obama.

Racial thugs can be combined with union thugs, who have already been successfully deployed against peaceful Tea Party activists.

Threats of racial violence will continue to prevent Congressional investigations of Obama's ineligibility and crimes.

If ordinary Americans retaliate against his campaign of violence, Obama can declare martial law and cancel the 2012 election.

If Obama loses in 2012, he will try to use a race war to bring America down with him.

It is clear that we have no political leaders willing to state the truth openly, that Obama is a usurper and a criminal.

They would all rather play it safe and continue the charade that we have an honest government accountable to the people instead of the reality of a corrupt oligarchy.

The irony is that any politician, willing to take an unambiguous stand against Obama's illegal and criminal Presidency, would be a shoe-in as his replacement.

Unfortunately, instead of helping the American people uphold the Constitution and the rule of law, the political-media complex has protected Obama and cut off every avenue to challenge him legally.

The remaining question is: will the American people continue to tolerate flagrant government corruption and slouch towards Armageddon?

I smell rebellion in the air.

You Need ID in D.C. to Get Sandbags for Irene, But No ID to Vote?
Government is irrational–which is more important–honesty in the voting booth or a misgiven sandbag in the middle of a hurricane? Consider the following from Publius: "Alexa [from Alexashrugged.com] noted this specific part: 'Residents, with DC identification, may pick up sandbags (up to five per household) at RFK Stadium, Lot 7.' Alexa found the whole 'DC identification' thing rather amusing. 'Need ID to pick up sandbags, but not to vote,' she snarked. Totally hilarious, no?

Perry using gas taxes to pay for security detail
Written by Terri Hall
Tuesday, 30 August 2011
Link to article here.

"While Perry pays for most of his travel from his campaign account and donated funds, costs for the security detail are paid largely out of the state highway fund, derived from a gasoline tax and vehicle registration fees."

So as Rick Perry gallivants around the country running for President, he's spending our scarce gas taxes to pay for his security detail, gas taxes he claims have run out and can longer keep up with paying for roads. Perry has used this argument to justify charging Texans new toll taxes to access their public roads, including selling Texas sovereign roads to foreign entities and slapping tolls on existing roads. Perry is conveniently starving Texans' gas taxes that are needed for roads by using them to fund his security detail on the campaign trail instead of working in his office in Texas where security costs aren't near as costly to taxpayers. More hypocrisy from a man who claims to be a 'fiscal conservative.'

Who's paying Perry's security costs?

By Sari Horwitz
Washington Post
Saturday, Aug 27, 2011

Since Rick Perry joined the presidential race this month, his campaign entourage has included not just the standard array of political advisers and aides, but a squad of Texas law enforcement agents.

The security forces scout and secure locations days in advance. Well before the governor's visit to Tommy's Country Ham House in Greenville, S.C., the weekend of Aug. 20, more than a half-dozen suited and armed agents were giving orders to the crowd of more than 400.

How much is this ever-present phalanx of state policemen costing the taxpayers of Texas? They won't know at least until after next year's presidential election, thanks to a provision, tucked into a school finance bill in July, that will keep the governor's travel records sealed for 18 months.

Although security around public officials has been tightened considerably since the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks, the secrecy that surrounds Perry's travels is unique, according to Ken Bunting, executive director of the Missouri-based National Freedom of Information Coalition.

And the governor's critics contend that it has as much to do with politics as safety especially after the embarrassment for Perry when taxpayers learned that they had been paying for scuba gear and golf cart rentals for officers who accompanied Perry and his wife to the Bahamas in 2004.

"I'm appalled," said Democratic state Rep. Lon Burnam. "He wants to keep the details buried when he goes to the Bahamas."

Indeed, this is a battle that has been raging since long before Perry decided to run for president.

Texas newspapers have tried for years to see Perry's travel records, which would include the costs of the governor's security detail. But the state Department of Public Safety, run by Steve McCraw, a former FBI official and a longtime Perry friend, has said that the safety of Perry and his family could be jeopardized if the public knew how many officers accompany them, where they stay and Perry's traveling patterns.

After the Houston Chronicle, San Antonio Express and Austin American-Statesman sued the DPS, two Texas courts ruled that the records should be released. They were overturned last month by the state Supreme Court. But the case is still alive: the Supreme Court sent it back to a lower court, ordering DPS to cite precisely which records would put Perry in danger if they were released.

In the meantime, during a special session that ended July 1, the Texas Legislature, at Perry's urging, added language to a school finance bill that will seal the governor's travel records for 18 months until after the 2012 presidential election. The measure would cover the records going forward, not those in the past, which have been the subject of the court fight.

One Republican legislator, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the governor as "extremely concerned" about keeping his records sealed, and said Perry was actively lobbying key legislators to get it passed in the waning days of the special session. The legislator said Perry's wife, Anita, also was pressing legislators on the issue.

The move to seal the records has drawn criticism from Republicans as well as Democrats.

"The money belongs to the people of Texas and they need to have an account of it," said state Rep. David Simpson (R), a freshman from Longview who was elected with tea party backing. "You can do this without jeopardizing security."

State officials say they do provide summaries of the information for an array of top officials, but not the specifics, citing security concerns.

"The governor believes that we need to strike the right balance of transparency and accountability to taxpayers while maintaining a priority on security," said Catherine Frazier, a spokeswoman for Perry.

Before Perry's travel records were sealed, Texas newspapers were able to shed some light on his travel and the cost to taxpayers, including the Bahamas trip.

The records, reported in 2005 by the Austin American-Statesman, showed that Perry and staff members had traveled the previous year to the Bahamas for a meeting with top campaign donor James Leininger, a supporter of public school vouchers and charter schools, his wife, and Grover Norquist, a national anti-tax advocate. The records showed $4,200 in taxpayer money was spent for the squad of six state troopers who went along, including costs for renting scuba gear, golf cars and cellphones, according to the newspaper.

Perry said later that the trip was to discuss education policy and finance with his political and technical advisers "in a setting removed from daily distractions."

In 2009, Perry traveled to Israel where he was given the "Defender of Jerusalem" award. According to a local television report, he and his wife flew first class at more than $5,000 per ticket, paid for by an energy company financier. Four security detail officers also went on the five-day trip at a cost of more than $70,000 to taxpayers. The expenses included $17,000 for rooms at the King David Hotel, nearly $13,000 for food and more than 350 hours in overtime pay.

Perry has said in the past that most of his frequent international travel has been to promote Texas and draw business to the state.

Open-records advocates in Texas say taxpayers have a right to know the costs of Perry's security detail and the trips, especially long after the travel has occurred.

"The Perry administration is trying to hide the true cost of his out-of-state travel to the taxpayer," said Craig McDonald of Texans for Public Justice.

State Rep. Charlie Geren (R), the House Administration Committee chairman, said the provision to seal the records came largely at the insistence of DPS head McCraw. McCraw was appointed to his post by a commission of Perry appointees shortly after a fire was set at the governor's mansion in 2008.

The fire, which almost destroyed the 153-year-old mansion, was started by an unidentified person who tossed a Molotov cocktail on the front porch. No one was in the home, which had been closed for renovation.

While Perry pays for most of his travel from his campaign account and donated funds, costs for the security detail are paid largely out of the state highway fund, derived from a gasoline tax and vehicle registration fees.

HI my American cousins

As some of you know I am a Canadian. This video was sent to me from a Brit friend from Bangkok. He was sent it by a friend in Britain,

My point is. It is not only you that are worried about your county's future. We all are.

If the U.S. can't be that beacon of freedom and keep it's roll as world policeman. Someone else will step into the vacuum,

If the U.S. keeps on it's present course. Showing weakness at home and abroad. More countries will take advantage of that. China and Russia are just licking their lips over the prospect of a post American world. A world where the power of the U.S. is killed from within without a single shot being fired.

Your economic and political turmoil threatens the very existence of western liberal democracy.

So, please view this post with that in mind. Your future and the future off all of us who value the ideals of a liberal democracy are at stake. more so than any time in our lives.

Bear
Your Canadian cousin. Literally.

This is an eye opening video that should wake  the U.S. up.
Let us get our heads out of the sand.

Only three minutes but it will blow you away.

Sit down and fasten your safety belt. You will not

Perry Is Right about Social Security
by Jacob G. Hornberger

Not surprisingly, Governor Rick Perry is catching flack from mainstream statists over his calling Social Security "a Ponzi scheme." For statists, Social Security, as the crown jewel of the welfare state, is sacrosanct. Any challenge to the program or even an accurate description of how it works is, well, close to treason. Every red-blooded, patriotic American is expected to hew to the official line: People voluntary put their money into a federal trust fund and they have a right to get it out upon retirement.

So, for statists Perry has committed treason and even heresy by pointing out that Social Security is really nothing more than a Ponzi scheme, the type of scheme that federal officials criminally prosecute people for when they do this sort of thing in the private sector.

What exactly is a Ponzi scheme? How does it work? Who was Charles Ponzi? What ended up happening to him?

The answers to those questions are contained in a great article entitled " Yes, It Is a Ponzi Scheme" by Michael D. Tanner, senior fellow at the Cato Institute. The article appears on the website of the conservative publication National Review.

Tanner carefully documents the nature of Ponzi's scheme and why he was convicted of fraud and sent to prison.

Ponzi would accept money from investors with the promise of paying high returns on the money. But Ponzi didn't invest the money. Instead, he would use money taken from later investors to pay high returns to early investors. The scheme went on until he was unable to find enough new investors to cover the payments that needed to be made to early investors. At that point, the system collapsed and Ponzi's massive fraud became apparent.

Social Security is based on the same fraudulent principles as Ponzi's scheme. Money that is taken from later taxpayers is used to pay off early taxpayers. As Tanner points out, over the decades the number of people from whom the money is being taken has sharply decreased compared to the number of people receiving Social Security. Tanner observes that "in 1950, for instance, there were 16 workers supporting every retiree. Today, there are just over three. By around 2030, we will be down to just two."

Tanner relates the fascinating story of Ida Mae Fuller, the first Social Security recipient. She paid $44 in Social Security taxes and ended up receiving $20,993 in benefits. How did she do that? In the same way that Ponzi's early investors received their high returns by being paid money from later taxpayers.

So, Perry is right to describe Social Security as a rotten, fraudulent system. But the obvious question arises: What is Perry's solution? He didn't say, but I think he'll soon realize that he's boxed himself in.

Like any other conservative politician, Perry is not about to call for repealing Social Security. He's too afraid of losing votes to do that. Yet, where does that leave him? It leaves him in the position of continuing to support a system that he himself knows is immoral, rotten, and fraudulent. How can the continued embrace of an immoral, rotten, fraudulent system be reconciled with Perry's deep commitment to moral and religious principles?

Of course, we libertarians don't face that problem. We hold that Social Security should be repealed, immediately and completely. It's a no-good, immoral, rotten, fraudulent system that should never have been enacted. It's based on taking money from people to whom it belongs in order to give the loot to people to whom it does not belong. It's the most anti-family program that's ever been conceived. And as most everyone now knows, it's one of the major causes of the federal government's out-of-control spending, debt, taxation, inflation, and impending bankruptcy.

Thus, there is only one solution to Social Security that is consistent with moral and religious principles. Get rid of it, fully and immediately.

We libertarians also have a firm belief in freedom. We believe that God's gift of free will and the principles of a free society entitle people to reject their parents and others if that's their choice. By the same token, however, we place unwavering faith in ourselves, in the free market, and in other people. We have no doubts that most children honor their mother and father on a purely voluntary basis when the need arises. The same holds true for brothers, sisters, friends, neighbors, and people who believe in helping out people in need with their own money.

That is the distinguishing characteristic between libertarianism and statism. We believe in freedom of choice and voluntary action. Statists believe in force and coercion. There is no better example of this difference than with the Ponzi scheme known as Social Security.

DOJ Antitrust Lawsuit Subverts Free Enterprise, Job Creation

Gov't Regulators Jeopardize Pro-Competitive AT&T, T-Mobile Deal

Washington, D.C., August 31, 2011 – This morning, the U.S. Department of Justice filed an antitrust lawsuit seeking to block the proposed acquisition of T-Mobile by AT&T. Telecommunications analysts at the Competitive Enterprise Institute blasted the suit, arguing that it will negatively impact consumers, innovation, and the economy.

Statement of Ryan Radia, CEI Associate Director of Technology Studies:

The Department of Justice's lawsuit amounts to a subversion of the evolution of free enterprise and economic progress. Federal regulators and their arbitrary "merger guidelines" are woefully ill-equipped to judge the merits of proposed business deals, particularly in dynamic modern markets such as the wireless sector. To be sure, no business deal is ever guaranteed to benefit consumers or the economy. But market participants, including upstream suppliers, customers, potential entrants, and capital markets, stand ready to check detrimental concentration in telecommunications if it arises.

The suit is also further evidence of this administration's antipathy toward the job-creating sector. AT&T's acquisition of T-Mobile has the potential to create hundreds of thousands of new jobs by accelerating the rollout of advanced wireless networks nationwide. Indeed, 4G mobile broadband is expected to generate tens of billions of dollars in economic growth in coming years, as a new Deloitte report concluded.

Statement of Luke Pelican, CEI Policy Fellow:

Contrary to the Justice Department's assertions, competition would likely thrive as a result of the proposed deal. A more robust AT&T would increase pressure on Sprint and Verizon Wireless to compete against the combined company, while allowing competitors to cull dissatisfied customers from AT&T should the company increase prices. On the other hand, the cell towers and spectrum AT&T will gain as a result of the deal will bring greater coverage for its customers, especially in dense urban areas. AT&T's move to LTE-based technology would also benefit T-Mobile users who are currently served by that company's HSPA+ network.

As it stands today, T-Mobile is in a compromised position, as it lacks a viable path forward in the competitive wireless market. Deutsche Telekom has emphatically stated its intention not to invest in overhauling T-Mobile's network to offer LTE technology. Should the Justice Department succeed in blocking the deal, it will leave millions of consumers with obsolete technology and inferior service. Together, AT&T and T-Mobile will provide consumers with greater benefits than the two firms will if they go it alone.

The federal government's chronic inability to bring additional spectrum to the market makes this deal all the more important. With emerging mobile applications and growing wireless broadband usage, efficient spectrum utilization is crucial. By denying AT&T access to T-Mobile's spectrum, the DOJ's lawsuit will harm consumers and industry by forcing them to wait for Congress and the FCC to liberalize more spectrum – a process that could take over a decade.
