"Plastic Men" to Air Preceding CNN Debate October 18
Revolution PAC's Ron Paul ad targeting integrity–deficient rivals to make national TV debut.
Tom Woods
Northbrook, IL – October 13, 2011

Revolution PAC has secured three 60-second national prime time spots to air its acclaimed ad "Plastic Men" in conjunction with next week's CNN Western Republican Presidential Debate. Featured by USA Today and The Wall Street Journal when it launched in mid-September and logging more than 100,000 YouTube views since that time, the video sharply differentiates limited government champion and fiscal hawk Congressman Ron Paul from his establishment-driven GOP rivals.

The CNN Western Republican Presidential Debate will be broadcast live from Las Vegas at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on October 18.

Revolution PAC expects the airing of "Plastic Men" to further diminish Rick Perry, who has plummeted in the polls and failed to impress in recent debates, as a viable option for conservative leaders. Perry's Texas executive order requiring HPV vaccinations, Mitt Romeny's Massachusetts health care mandate and the economic miscues of a host of Republican candidates are spotlighted in the ad.

"'Plastic Men' is an exercise in distinguishing Ron Paul's consistent, principled record from those of the GOP field's many pretenders," explains Revolution PAC Advisory Board member Gary Franchi. "Unabashed TARP supporters Mitt Romney and Herman Cain, for instance, stand in stark contrast to Ron Paul, who began warning of the housing collapse in 2001 and who has never voted for a bailout. The media consistently downplays Dr. Paul's prescience on this and other vital issues; Revolution PAC aims to correct any misperceptions."

Timing of the ad, Franchi continues, could not be better. "Cain was caught this week brazenly denying his criticism of Ron Paul's Audit the Fed push. Now that the investigation has proven fruitful, revealing $16 trillion in previously undisclosed loans by the Federal Reserve to foreign and domestic banks, Cain claims to support transparency."

The bottom line message of "Plastic Men" is clear, insists Franchi. "Regardless of slick packaging, political expediency will not win votes in 2012."

Rep. Paul's strong states' rights outlook engenders strong support for his campaign throughout the West. In September, Paul won the California GOP Straw Poll by a wide margin. In the 2008 GOP presidential primaries, he earned second place-finishes in Nevada, Montana, Idaho and New Mexico.

A recent Harris Poll showed Ron Paul prevailing over Barack Obama 51 percent to 49 percent in a general election race.

Revolution PAC is bolstering Ron Paul's consistent, constitutional message with targeted TV advertising campaigns complemented by billboards and radio ads in key primary states. Unlimited donations by individuals, businesses and organizations are being accepted by Revolution PAC to support that effort.

Subject: Defund the UN Population Fund

Defund the UN Population Fund

There's never been a better opportunity to defund a department of the United Nations than right now.  Fresh out of the House Foreign Relations Committee is H.R. 2059, a remarkably short bill that would prohibit funding of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The proposal has 83 cosponsors and quite a lot of momentum, and could save the American taxpayers $400 million in one decade, and probably many babies' lives. In addition, it would bring the White House's current policy back in line with American law that prohibits funding for any agency that supports or participates in programs of coercive abortion or involuntary sterilization. (Think China.)

The propaganda from the UNFPA (known as the United Nations Fund for Population Activities from 1969 to 1987) indicates that its programs do nothing more than "reduce poverty and ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every birth safe, every young person is free of HIV/AIDS, and every girl and woman is treated with dignity and respect." And how does the UNFPA accomplish such lofty-sounding goals? By promoting "family planning," access to abortions, and instituting sex-ed programs, especially for youth.

Although the UNFPA denies promoting or supporting abortion on its website, under the umbrella of "reproductive health" the international organization provides legitimacy for accessing abortion as a human right.  As recently as July, the youth program of UNFPA, Y-PEER, released a statement calling for the realization of global youths' sexual and reproductive health and rights. The statement even went so far as to encourage young people to "experience and celebrate their sexuality," and emphasized the "right to choose" along with universal access to safe abortion and comprehensive sexuality education for those as young as ten years.

So, instead of promoting policies that would delay marriage and childbearing for the poverty-stricken of many countries, the UNFPA encourages promiscuity.  Instead of abstinence training, a sexual revolution is advanced. And, instead of telling teens the truth about free sex, they hype the glories of condom use that afford little or no protection from sexually transmitted diseases rampant in many third world countries. Shockingly, the UN's answer to gender discrimination and sex selection brought about by the one-child policy is "safe" abortions.

UNFPA was caught in 2001 praising China's brutally enforced one-child policy, but denies that its programs in China supported coercive abortions. However, in 2002, the U.S. State Department, while concluding that UNFPA didn't "knowingly" support or participate in forced abortions or sterilization, found that UNFPA had indeed provided computers and data-processing equipment that facilitated the implementation of China's coercive policy, and even shared office space. This knowledge prompted then-Secretary of State Colin Powell to call for an end of U.S. funding for UNFPA. Furthermore John Negroponte, Deputy Secretary of State concurred in 2008 saying, "all UNFPA programming related to contraception and reproductive health incorporates, and defers to Chinese law and regulation."

In 2005 and in 2006, UNFPA and International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) jointly advanced a framework that included "sexual and reproductive health and rights," including "safe abortion."  In 2007, the goal was to introduce MVA techniques -- vacuum aspiration for early term abortions -- across the African continent. The IPPF at that time spent $100,000 on a special session for African health ministers to implement the UNFPA/IPPF plan of action.

In 2010, UNFPA's contribution to IPPF was $1.6 million. UN Women contributed over $330,000. UNAIDS gave IPPF over $1 million. And the World Bank, WHO, and UNAIDS collectively donated $400,000 to IPPF.

Although House appropriators included a UNFPA funding ban in their version of the fiscal 2012 State Department spending bill, their Senate counterparts included $40 million for the UNFPA in their version, while President Obama has requested $47.5 million.

The moral of this story is that eventually, money given to UNFPA ends up in the pockets of those whose goal it is to increase abortions and destroy the morality and values of the people in many geographic locations; there's little evidence that poverty is eliminated, or that women and children are any healthier.

Contact your congressmen now and insist they vote to defund UNFPA by passing H.R. 2059.  Anything less would not be representational of the wishes of the American people who reject abortion and the use of their hard-earned tax dollars to pay for it.

Government-Generated Plots

Andrew P. Napolitano, LRC 10/14/2011 Does the government work for us or do we work for the government? Can the federal government take credit for saving us from a plot of its own creation? Tonight, has the federal government kept us safe or does it just want us to think that it has kept us [...]

San Francisco restaurant workers support 25 percent tip standard

Of course, this comes from San Francisco...

Mercurynews.comThere's a move on to make 25 percent the standard tip in San Francisco restaurants. Media sources report that San Francisco restaurant workers are behind it with support from some high-class restaurants.

But, tipping always has been a personal matter. The restaurant norm now is about 15 percent or 20 percent. The IRS says 15 percent is about right for workers' tax purposes.

Mike Alexander of Antioch said, "They have to be kidding. The whole purpose of a tip is to reward service. If the price is dictated it's not a tip. If they're serious they'll meet a lot of resistance. It seems like everyone is trying to squeeze another buck out of us."

"If they try it, people will vote with their feet," said Candel Garcia. "Tips should be earned, not expected. I usually tip 10 percent or 15 percent, which I think is fair. If they really want a bigger tip they might try to increase their service to justify it."

Tom Grey of Antioch wants to know how they came up with the 25 percent tip idea. "The government puts 15 percent as the tax tab for individuals getting tips. Does anyone really think restaurant workers will admit to the additional income and report it to the IRS? I'm sticking with 15 percent as my restaurant tip."

Farrah Harper of Brentwood thinks of a negative effect. "If servers think they automatically will get a 25 percent tip, they could very easily slack off and relax on the service they provide," she said. "I'm sticking with my 20 percent tips. If the service is really great, I can up that amount, but that doesn't happen very often."

"They're being greedy. How can anyone make a tip percentage standard?" asked Charles Piggett of Antioch. "There is one thing that does affect size of the tip, guilt feelings. Some people are ashamed to appear as a cheapskate so they over-tip. That doesn't work for me. I don't need anyone else telling me how to spend my money."

Valerie Green of Oakley disagrees. "Given the terrible state of our economy, I think 25 percent is not unreasonable," she said. "I usually do 20 percent, but everyone needs some extra money now and I'm all for it. I'm going to go with 25 percent starting with my next meal out."

Antioch's Cliff Lane is thinking out of the box. "If you want to reward service, start tipping the help in fast food places. These people work for minimum wage and get no tips," he said. "Tips are for quality service. If you get it, give a tip. In restaurants I usually leave 20 percent. Given the rising prices for meals now, a 20 percent tip does include a raise."

Yes Ms. Green, given the state of our economy, let's set a minimum tip percentage above the normal standard tip rate for what should be based on performance.  Makes sense to me.

Any restaurant that sets a tip standard (separate from a gratuity placed on large parties) will not be getting my service!

Home Invader Finds Justice

by Dave

Yep, nothing like a good DRT* story to get the weekend started of right.

Via fox10tv.com:

Pensacola, Fla. (WALA) - POLICE: MAN INVADES HOME WITH BOW AND ARROW

Police say Auxiliary Florida State Trooper Tabbatha Nussbaumer turned the tables on a robber armed with a bow and arrow during a home invasion in Pensacola.

"Absolutely shocked. I've known Sean since high school. We went to high school together, he was a great guy, he never got mixed up in anything bad," said Ben Calloway

Calloway is responding to what happened on the evening of October 10. Pensacola police said auxiliary Florida State Trooper Tabbatha Nussbaumer was upstairs in her home taking a shower, when her young son told her there was a man in the house.

Nussbaumer confronted the man that police have identified as 24-year-old Sean Harris. Police said Harris was armed with a bow and arrow and demanding money. Nussbaumer told the suspect money was in her truck. As the suspect followed Nussbaumer outside, police say he removed his clothes.

According to police, when Nussbaumer reached her truck she removed a gun, turned around, and shot Harris in the stomach.

When police arrived Harris was lying naked, face down on the road. He was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital where he later died.

I think Tabbatha should be up for a community service award for ridding hers of a menace that very well could have killed an innocent person somewhere down the road.

CAP News
US, Canada Agree To Swap Texas, Quebec
US, Canada Agree To Swap Texas, Quebec

OTTAWA, Ont. (CAP) - Officials from the United States and Canada gathered today in Canada's capital city to sign an historic agreement whereby the countries agree to exchange the province of Quebec for the state of Texas.

"It's basically an Even-Steven swap," said US Ambassador to Canada David Jacobson. "Texas already seceded from the US once, back in the 1800's, and they've been talking about doing it again for a while. Likewise, Quebecors have been clamoring for a break from Canada for years.

"For both governments, this was an easy play," added Jacobson. "Our feeling is, if you don't like being part of this country, maybe you'll like being part of theirs better, and vice versa."

The move is expected to be a boon for the trucking industry, whose vehicles begin rolling almost immediately to start swapping the two locations piece by piece. Officials said that while some things may break or be lost in transit, they expect both Texas and Quebec to be delivered mostly intact.

"The people of Canada could not be more happy," said Canada's Ambassador to the US, Gary Doer. "Quebec's been weighing us down for quite a while, so this is great news.

"We almost blew it - we had asked the US to throw in Rhode Island as well," added Doer. "But as soon as they balked at that proposition, we took it off the table, and the deal was done."

Residents of Canada will now have an in-country vacation destination with warm temperatures year-round, a first in Canadian history, along with all the steaks they can eat. Likewise, US citizens pick up miles and miles of new ski slopes at countless winter resort destinations, and a place to finally put to good use the French they learned in junior high school.

"The best part of the whole deal is that no one from Texas will ever be eligible to run for president again, since they'll all be Canadian citizens," said Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR). "God only knows if the Bush family had any more potential candidates hiding around down there, but now it doesn't matter - we've shipped them all off to Canada!"

For now, the US will retain the rights to the oil refineries located along the coast of Texas, as well as the occasional hurriance that comes ashore. However, that could change when the deal is renegotiated in three years.
