67-Year-Old Woman Runs Off Intruder by Shooting at Him

by doctorbulldog

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Years ago, Betty Magnusson's son took her to a gun show and bought her a gun. That .38 revolver was tucked away in her bedroom and never used, said Magnusson. That is, until around 9:30 Sunday night."I knew as soon as it happened, something was wrong," said Magnusson.Asleep in bed, the 67-year-old heard a crash in her living room in her home on the Westside."I just grabbed the gun and started walking out and said who is it. And that's when I saw the guy standing right here in the middle of the living room," said Magnusson. "I'm going, 'you have got some nerve'. And he had this hoodie on."She said the man stood by her Christmas tree, staring at the floor, but there were no presents under the tree. He never said a word, said Magnusson, and neither did she. She didn't really have much to say anyway. "They always told me to cock it first. I didn't cock that thing or nothing. I just pulled the trigger. It was easy as pie," she said. She missed him and hit her window, but the robber took off. She said she wasn't shaking at all during the incident; in fact, she said she was "cool, calm." The main thing that sticks out? The gunpowder. "Boy, you talk about some stink. You could really smell that."Magnusson plans to head to a range to practice her aim, and she's got a little reminder she's keeping so she stays on target: the bullet casing she used."That's my souvenir. That's what I shot. I wish there would have been some blood on it. I really do. You don't go in somebody else's house," she said.Magnusson called 911 after she shot at the intruder. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is still looking for the burglar.

New post on Conservative Libertarian Outpost

Year in Review for 2011; Gun Owners of America

by Patrick Sperry
"In the 35 years since its foundation, the GOA has maintained its staunch opposition to any form of gun control, often taking a harder stand than the NRA." -- Ben Garrett, award-winning journalist, newspaper editor and blogger
With your help, Gun Owners of America was able to accomplish quite a bit in 2011. We thank you for your support, which makes this e-mail and web service possible. In order to continue serving you into the next year, we hope that you will please consider either:
2. If you are already a GOA member, giving a gift membership to GOA to your family and friends during this holiday season.
As we approach the Christmas holidays, we certainly have a lot to be thankful for. Here's a partial list of what we accomplished together this year.
January
* One of the first acts of the Congress in 2011 was to read the Constitution aloud, for the first time in history, on the floor of the United States House of Representatives. Virginia Rep. Bob Goodlatte led the effort in the House and credited GOA for helping make it happen.
"I want to thank Gun Owners of America for early support of the idea to read the U.S. Constitution on the House floor and for taking the lead to rally the grassroots in support of the Read the Constitution effort," Goodlatte said.
Of course, reading the Constitution is one thing, abiding by it is another. And that is a battle GOA brings to Capitol Hill on a daily basis.
*GOA began a year-long effort to call attention to Fast and Furious. This operation that was run out of the Justice Department helped criminals buy guns "legally" from American gun stores - with the hopes that the ensuing violence would drive calls for more gun control.
February - March
* GOA began warning its activists that anti-gun Democrats might try to attach gun control restrictions on a bill to reauthorize funding the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration). These proposals included a ban on high capacity magazines; restrictions that would end gun shows; and, potentially, a provision stripping millions of gun owners of their rights by placing them on "watch lists" without any due process of law.
GOA worked on the Hill by putting pro-gun amendments into the hands of certain Senators. Our efforts to counter these disastrous proposals with pro-gun initiatives backed the gun grabbers into a comer and stymied their plans.
*GOA and its activists won temporary victories when the House voted to repeal the anti-gun ObamaCare law and to adopt the Boren-Rehberg amendment -- which would defund ATF's latest gun registry.
Gun Owners of America contacted every member of the House of Representatives prior to winning the votes on ObamaCare and Boren-Rehberg. Sadly, both of these victories were temporary, as the Democrat Senate refused to go along.
* GOA began a national campaign to defeat restrictive legislation introduced by New York Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D). Her bill, HR 308, would resurrect the ban on high capacity magazines which passed during the Clinton administration -- but later sunset in 2004. (GOA will spend the year mobilizing gun owners against this threat, and can thankfully report that, by year's end, her bill has remained bottled up in committee.)
April-May
* After President Obama nominated Goodwin Liu to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, GOA worked hard to alert Senators to his extreme, anti-gun record. Like many radical progressives, Liu believes that while our Second Amendment rights might have been necessary in the 1700s, they are no longer needed today. Thanks, in large part, to Liu's radical views on the Second Amendment, his nomination was narrowly defeated.
* Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) tied the Senate in knots for more than a week fighting for a GOAbacked amendment which would have protected 4473's and other gun records from blanket searches by the ATF under the so-called PATRIOT Act.
Because many leaders in his own party refused to back him, Sen. Paul was not successful this time, but he put a marker down that gun rights would not be violated without a fight from the pro-gun community.
Sen. Paul thanked "Gun Owners of America for their strong support of my amendment to protect the privacy of gun owners."
June - August
* GOA activated its grassroots members in opposition to S. 679, the Cover-up Protection Act -- a bill that would exempt hundreds of federal appointees from Senate confirmation, thus allowing the President to stack his administration with flaming anti-gunners.
This battle underscored the power of the grassroots -- and the effect that phone calls and emails can have upon their elected officials. After hearing from thousands upon thousands of GOA's activists, Capitol Hill staffers confided to GOA that key Senators reversed course and decided to add amendments which would require the most important Presidential appointments to still be approved by the Senate.
* The crescendo over the Operation Fast and Furious debacle continued to build. Dubbed as Obama's Watergate, Fast and Furious highlights the extent that his corrupt administration will go to demonize gun owners. GOA has spent the first half of the year educating the media and the grassroots over Fast and Furious -- and for its part, CBS and Fox News lead the media in covering this fiasco.
September
* GOA began to energize its grassroots in favor of concealed carry reciprocity bill introduced by Georgia Rep. Paul Broun. His bill (HR 2900) will allow law-abiding gun owners to carry outof-state without requiring them to possess a concealed carry permit in the state they are visiting.
*Gun Owners of America briefed an important case before the U.S. Supreme Court earlier in the year -- and, in September, we won! The Court handed down its decision in Bond v. United States, where the U.S. government had made a "federal case" out of a domestic dispute involving a Pennsylvania woman who injured her neighbor.
There was absolutely no reason why the federal government should have been prosecuting Carol Bond, as opposed to the local authorities. So GOA got involved with the intent to help drive the federal government back into the parameters as outlined in the Constitution -- a result which will, most definitely, benefit gun owners.
October- November
* In late October, GOA began pressing hard for congressmen to start petitioning for Eric Holder's resignation. Within a week, the number of Representatives calling for Holder's resignation rose to more than two dozen -- and the number has since doubled to more than four dozen.
* The Obama Administration issued regulations earlier this year requiring agencies to lie to the public under certain circumstances. GOA alerted its grassroots in October to these regs and urged Congress to defund the administration's ability to enforce them. The Administration pulled the regulations within the week.
* In November, Gun Owners Foundation won a Supreme Court case in defense of a gun owner in Virginia. Russell Ernest Smith had been wrongfully convicted of "willfully and intentionally" making a false statement on his 4473 form when purchasing a firearm. But GOF believed that the government's argument against Smith was specious.
So Gun Owners Foundation prepared its amicus brief and submitted it on behalf of Mr. Smith. GOF was the only group making the case that Smith's conviction should be overturned. After waiting several months for the verdict, the Virginia Supreme Court announced its verdict ... and Smith emerged victorious.
What's both interesting and exciting in this case is that, in overturning Smith's conviction, the judges used an argument that GOF had made -- an argument which his own lawyer did not even make. GOF is clearly making an impact upon the courts in defense of gun owners' rights!
* Concealed carry reciprocity legislation passed on the floor of the House by a 272-154 vote. Representatives had two bills to choose from -- although the weaker bill passed. The battle now moves to the Senate, where GOA will work to amend the legislation with the provisions of HR 2900, the "constitutional carry" friendly bill.
December
* GOA worked hard this year to stall (or defeat) the nomination of anti-gun judges. One of Obama's picks who stalled out was Caitlin Halligan, a judicial nominee with a history of antigun activism. But with most of the nation focusing its attention on the upcoming holidays, GOA had to call the troops into battle after Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid tried to ram through Halligan's confirmation in early December.
* The response of Gun Owners of America members to the GOA alert was overwhelming and played an important role in defeating the confirmation of Halligan. On the Hill, Gun Owners of America briefed Senate offices right up to the time of the vote about the danger of confirming Halligan. Thankfully, in a procedural maneuver known as a "cloture vote," Reid fell six votes short of getting the needed votes to move the nomination forward for a final vote.

Some choice quotes:

"Given the inefficiencies of what DC laughingly calls the criminal
justice system, I think we can safely assume that 95 percent of the
black males in that city are semi-criminal or entirely criminal."

"We are constantly told that it is evil to be afraid of black men,
it is hardly irrational."

After the Los Angeles riots, one article in a newsletter claimed,
"Order was only restored in L.A. when it came time for the blacks to
pick up their welfare checks."

One referred to Martin Luther King Jr. as "the world-class
philanderer who beat up his paramours" and who "seduced underage girls
and boys."

Another referred to Barbara Jordan, a civil rights activist and
congresswoman as "Barbara Morondon," the "archetypical half-educated
victimologist."

Dr.Paul supporters have all been screaming about his lack of coverage
from the media. Now that he is a front runner, he gets what he
wants. Bask in it folks because you finally got your wish.

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year

"When President George W. Bush included North Korea in his 'Axis of Evil' along with Iraq and Iran, he was greeted with snickers from those to whom evil is a foreign and unnecessarily provocative concept. Yet evil exists and will continue to be a threat even if its poster child, Kim Jong Il, is dead. ... North Korea developed nukes and the missiles to carry them while its depraved leader drank imported cognac and his people literally ate the bark off trees. Dear Leader's cognac bill was estimated at $500,000 a month. Despite one of the longest and costliest emergency international food relief efforts in history, North Korea's artificial famine has had a proportionately higher death toll than any in history -- worse even than Stalin's Russia or Mao's China. In remote locations not far from the borders with China and Russia, a gulag not unlike the worst labor camps built by Mao and Stalin holds 200,000 men, women and children accused of various crimes against the state. The North Korean Freedom Coalition estimates that between 400,000 and 1 million have perished in these death camps. After Kim Jong Il suffered a stroke in 2008, his third son, Kim Jong Un, estimated to be about 27, was designated as the tyrant-in-line. Kim Jong Un was made a general despite having no military experience. ... The uncertainty all this presents begs for a response better than the fuel oil and food diplomacy conducted in the past to buy time and kick the can down the road. We remember former President Jimmy Carter's naive and dangerous pilgrimage to North Korea. Carter praised North Korea's mass-murdering dictator as a 'vigorous and intelligent man.' Of this habitat for inhumanity, Carter stated: 'I don't see they are an outlaw nation.' ... China, Pyongyang's No. 1 supplier and benefactor, could have long ago helped us rein in this rogue and belligerent regime, but preferred to leave it as both a threat and annoyance to U.S. interests. Now, with the death of Kim Jong Il, uncertainty and instability make North Korea arguably a threat to both nations. As with our policy toward Iran, the other surviving member of the Axis of Evil, it should be clear that further appeasement of tyranny and evil may appear to buy time but only postpones the day of reckoning." --Investor's Business Daily

Ron Paul The Leader in Iowa
Posted by Michael S. Rozeff on December 21, 2011 09:12 AM

Intrade at this moment has Ron Paul at a 46.9% chance of winning the Iowa caucus. Second is Romney at 33.9%. Next is Gingrich at 8%. The rest of the field is at low numbers. It's basically a two man race at this time.

But nationally the news is not as bright. Romney has a 68% chance to be the nominee. Gingrich is second at 10.1% and Paul is third at 8.5%. This tells you what the Intrade bettors think at the moment. Tomorrow, next week, next month, and next November are open to change.

The (Illegal) Private Bus System That Works

By Lisa Margonelli

Brooklyn's dollar van fleet is a tantalizing demonstration of how we might supplement mass transit with privately-owned mini-transit entrepreneurs

</mail/u/0/s/?view=att&th=13460288cce3e2bf&attid=0.1.1&disp=emb&zw>

Winston Williams owns and operates this advertising-wrapped dollar van / Lisa Margonelli

America's 20th largest bus service -- hauling 120,000 riders a day -- is profitable and also illegal. It's not really a bus service at all, but a willy-nilly aggregation of 350 licensed and 500 unlicensed privately-owned "dollar vans" that roam the streets of Brooklyn and Queens, picking up passengers from street corners where city buses are either missing or inconvenient. The dollar van fleet is a tantalizing demonstration of how we might supplement mass transit to include privately-owned mini-transit entrepreneurs, giving people alternative ways to get around, and creating jobs.
To see how the dollar van universe works (I'll get to why it's illegal in a minute), I spent a morning riding around with one of Brooklyn's dollar van entrepreneurs, Winston Williams of Blackstreet Van Lines. I caught up with Winston's pink, advertising-covered van on Livingston Street in downtown Brooklyn and hopped in the front seat, and off we went up Flatbush Avenue. Almost all of the dollar vans are Ford E350's, with a high body and side doors and enough seats in the back to hold 14 people. Once you notice them in the parts of Brooklyn and Queens where they work, they're ubiquitous. Winston looks in the rear-view mirror and explains that the trick is to keep a distance between the vans in front and the vans behind to maximize the chance of getting passengers. At $2 a ride, he needs to get 14 people in the van on the 5.6 mile trip from downtown Brooklyn to King's Highway to turn a profit. The cost of licensing, insuring, staffing, and fueling the eight vans in his fleet is considerable.

Some people worry that dollar vans pick up passengers who would otherwise ride the bus, but Columbia Assistant Professor of Urban Planning David King and doctoral student Eric Goldwyn say that's not likely. Dollar vans seem to complement the bus service, and they have real advantages. Goldwyn has ridden in the vans and conducted tallies where he's found that on some corners there are four city buses an hour and 45 to 60 vans, meaning that passengers literally don't have to wait more than a minute for a ride. Also, the vans can be a lot faster than public transit. A service that runs between Chinatowns can get from Flushing to Sunset Park in 20 minutes while the subway will take an hour and 13 minutes at minimum. And for regular riders, there are other perks. "I've heard they offer more services -- for example, they'll wait while a parent walks a child up to the door of daycare or a school." That is service that you can't get from a bus.

With its pink advertising wrapping, Winston's van gives the impression that the inside will have a party atmosphere. But it doesn't. The passengers, most of whom are from Jamaica (like Winston) or Trinidad, sit quietly. One Trinidadian woman dressed in business clothes overhears me interviewing Winston and volunteers that vans are a common way to get around the islands. The interior of the van is clean, gray, and institutional -- very much of a piece with Winston's overall business plan to brand his vans and make them mainstream.

He'd like to eventually move beyond the Flatbush route and pick up, say, hipsters in Williamsburg and bring them to Manhattan. If this sounds improbable, it's really not: Think of the incredible popularity of food trucks, which were known as "roach coaches" only 10 years ago. A hip fleet of dollar vans, providing proximity and cheap transit to 20-somethings, could easily catch on. If the vans ran on cleaner engines -- hybrids or natural gas -- they could be part of a greener city. (In another move to raise the profile of his vans beyond Flatbush, Winston allows a music promoter called Dollar Van Demos to film rappers in his vans for broadcast on the Internet.) But no broader growth can happen until the vans can be branded and made attractive to people who don't already know them, says Winston.

Ah, and that's where the illegality comes in. Winston used to have his vans all painted with a green stripe, so they became easily recognized in the neighborhood. While this "uniform" was good for business, his vans also caught the attention of police of various kinds who ticketed him for stopping to pick up passengers, and he accrued fines that ate into profits. This is the paradox of Winston's work: While he is fully licensed, insured, and inspected, his vans are prohibited from doing the one thing they really do -- picking up passengers off the street.

David King, from Columbia, quips that all dollar vans are 100 percent illegal (because they work the curbs), but some are 200 percent illegal (because they don't bother to get licensed in the first place). Winston says police don't cite the unlicensed vans, which eat into his business, but do go after the licensed ones for the curb infractions. "The law gets made up as you go along," Winston says, adding that the pink cellphone ad on the van is both an attempt to make a little money as he cruises up and down Flatbush, and a trial balloon to see whether there's a specific law prohibiting advertising on the vans. Later, one of the 500 or so completely illegal vans pulls up beside him, and in friendly Jamaican patois, Winston accuses the driver of being a terrorist. "It's not like I hate against them. But I'm running a business and they're running a hustle," he says.

The existence of laws and the lack of enforcement put the legal drivers in a bind that Winston describes as a Catch 22. In 1993, New York outlawed dollar vans entirely. It took the intervention of some activist van owners with the help of the Libertarian Institute For Justice to get them legalized. Deliberate or not, the city's perverse policy of half-legalizing legal vans and failing to enforce laws against the unlicensed ones limits the growth of what could be a useful transit resource. Winston describes a decade and half of Coyote and Roadrunner exploits with the law, concluding with, "Let there be a train strike, a blackout, a storm, or 9/11, and people are practically tearing the doors off." Last year, when the city was trying to cut bus routes, they even tried to substitute official dollar van routes, but that program was canceled when van drivers were uninterested in the routes, and riders were uninterested in the vans.

You might want to know why, exactly, jitneys or dollar vans are illegal in most states. The answer lies in the history of public transit. Until the early 1950s, most transit systems in the U.S. were privately owned companies that operated as regulated monopolies (like electric utilities today) and expected to provide transit service to an entire city. In exchange, they got the right to be the city's only transit service. Transit ridership peaked during World War II, but the transit companies slid into bankruptcy afterwards, as they were expected to serve greater suburban areas, service declined, and more and more federal money went into highways -- all of which tempted people to buy cars and abandon the trolleys and buses. Most of the country's 200 private transit franchises died in the 1950s. (Roger Rabbit had nothing to do with it. I swear.) In the late 1950s, cities took over the bankrupt transit lines and tried to make a go of them, retaining for themselves the monopoly on the right to provide service. In the early 60s the feds became involved in propping those systems up, but without much enthusiasm. Meanwhile, private transit were prevented from driving the streets even when they offered serviced different from the public transit agencies.

What's interesting about dollar vans, if they're properly licensed and insured -- and reasonably legal -- is that they could gravitate to where the riders are and where they want to go faster than public transit, which requires more infrastructure and meetings. In some cities, bus routes have histories going back decades, and they don't change to reflect how people's lives and work habits have changed. (They certainly don't stop at daycare centers.) Dollar vans are out there to make a buck, and that's not bad for passengers. Here's a video of a valiant dollar van on the prowl for customers during Hurricane Irene, when New York subways were shut down. You can see Winston's pink van at the curb.

"Republican voters may not want to ever admit it, but the stance of voting for "anyone but Obama" regardless of that candidate's history or policy views is as narrow-minded and stubborn as the Democrat Party voters who have had their heads in the sand about President Obama and the fact that his spending sprees and foreign policy have made George W. Bush look judicious. But this is not a debate about the merits and flaws of strict party line voting. It is an allusion to a fact that is becoming increasingly clear to many as the fight for the GOP nomination pushes forward: Ron Paul's base will not compromise."

For GOP, It's Paul or Obama
Roderick Lovan
Dec 20, 2011

Hi Newt. Welcome to your first meeting as a member of the Former Frontrunner Club. Please have a seat in between Mrs. Bachmann and Mr. Perry. Mr. Cain used to sit there, but he's decided he doesn't want to play anymore. Today we will be discussing how to best deal with the "anti-Romney" stereotype as well as Rick Santorum's request to join the club without possessing the proper credentials.

While that is just a comedic dramatization of the last six months of the GOP race, it's definitely not a dramatization that the Republican Party is begging for anyone but Mitt Romney to step forward. While Romney has certainly held steady at or near the top since the process began, his numbers have been anything but inspiring for likely voters. Virtually everyone not named Huntsman or Santorum has flirted with frontrunner status over the past six months, only to see the numbers crash back down leaving Romney on top again with his paltry 20%. Now, we receive word that Ron Paul, yes Ron Paul, has taken the lead in Iowa. So what does this mean for GOP voters as we approach Iowa and New Hampshire in the coming weeks? Simple. It's Ron Paul or four more years of Obama.

Republican voters may not want to ever admit it, but the stance of voting for "anyone but Obama" regardless of that candidate's history or policy views is as narrow-minded and stubborn as the Democrat Party voters who have had their heads in the sand about President Obama and the fact that his spending sprees and foreign policy have made George W. Bush look judicious. But this is not a debate about the merits and flaws of strict party line voting. It is an allusion to a fact that is becoming increasingly clear to many as the fight for the GOP nomination pushes forward: Ron Paul's base will not compromise.

Depending on which poll you use, Paul generally comes in somewhere in the high single-digits to the very low double-digits in the national polls. It doesn't sound like much compared to the numbers currently held by the falling Gingrich and the steady Romney, and it certainly doesn't lead one to believe that Paul should be the GOP choice. But when you take that 8-12% of the GOP base away from Romney or whoever becomes the final anti-Romney and put that candidate against the incumbent President, the incumbent President gets four more years 100% of the time. It is simply too much of a handicap to overcome.

Are Ron Paul supporters (or "Paulbots," "Paulites," and "Paulestinians" as they have been derisively called) really that staunch in their support that they would risk four more years of Obama just to make a point that they will not vote for whatever empty suit the GOP pushes out on stage? Unhesitatingly, yes. All you need to do to prove this to yourself is spend some time perusing the comment section of any story about Congressman Paul. His 8-12% belongs to him and him only, even if it means writing his name in on the ballot come November 2012. No other candidate can boast that type of support. The average Romney supporter will drop Mitt in a heartbeat and follow someone else if he doesn't get the GOP nod. In contrast, the typical fervent supporter of Paul is the type of person who truly believes that an establishment GOP candidate won't change the direction of the country anymore than Obama did when he took over for Bush. Thus, in the eyes of a Paulite, a vote for Romney is a vote for continuing the policies of Obama and Bush before him and might as well be a vote for Obama himself. At least with the re-election of Obama, you only have to deal with it as a GOP voter for four more years. If Romney or Gingrich were to win, you're stuck with him for eight. Paulites just won't have anything to do with that.

For the "anyone but Obama" crowd, this is a harsh reality to deal with. Many of them refuse to take a second look at Paul because of reservations about his foreign policy. Many voters are coming around to Paul's message, as evidenced by his rise in Iowa and New Hampshire, but nationally it remains to be seen if this momentum will continue. Will the GOP accept the reality for what it is and throw their support behind Paul, thus giving credibility to their shouts of "anyone but Obama," or will they force the hand of the Paul supporters by pushing out Romney or another GOP suit? If they want the White House they will choose Paul. Otherwise they will live with four more years of Obama and have no one but themselves to blame.

Dick Morris Says American Troops Are Not "True Patriots"
Posted on December 20, 2011

"NO TRUE PATRIOT COULD BE FOR RON PAUL" – Dick Morris 12/19/11 on Hannity radio.
by Nick Allison, U.S. Army

Recently, Dick Morris made comments on Sean Hannity's radio show stating that anyone who supports Ron Paul and his campaign is unpatriotic. There's nothing quite like a couple of chickenhawks who never served their country sitting around defining patriotism. While I am not easily offended, I nonetheless found Mr. Morris' statements to be slightly disturbing and seriously hypocritical.

Ron Paul enjoys strong support among members of the military and veterans. He receives more campaign contributions from active duty troops than all of the other Republican candidates combined. Is Dick implying that we, the people who have actually fought in America's wars, are somehow less patriotic than people such as himself simply because we disagree on foreign policy? His remarks have insulted thousands of military personnel and veterans.

The sad part is that Dick has no idea what he is talking about. He has no personal experience on which to base his opinion. You see, Mr. Morris was too much of a coward to put his own ass on the line by volunteering for the military during the Vietnam War. He was twenty years old in 1968- prime fighting age. Some other poor kid fought and died in his place. He should be ashamed of himself. Not for dodging service in Vietnam, mind you, but for espousing his current hawkish attitude toward foreign policy despite his reluctance to serve in his own war. You can talk the talk, Dick, but you never had the balls to walk the walk.

I would like to see him tell a veteran to his face, a soldier or marine- someone who was wounded in Afghanistan, who lost buddies in Iraq, who spent years of his life away from his family, who came home with mental as well a physical scars from fighting an immoral and unnecessary war with one hand tied behind his back with red-tape and bureaucratic bullshit- that he is somehow not a true patriot, simply because he supports Ron Paul for President.

I would like to make it clear that I don't claim to speak for all veterans. I never have. But I do speak for a large and ever-growing number of us. We have fought your dirty little wars. We have killed for our country. Many of us have died. And we don't all share the same views as Dick Morris. And, according to him, this alone makes us "unpatriotic."

Even my brothers who don't necessarily share all of my ideas wouldn't take such an un-American stance as Mr. Morris has in calling anyone, including the members of the military who disagree with him, unpatriotic.

Dick Morris is a coward, a chickenhawk, a disgrace and a hypocrite. His name doesn't even deserve to be mentioned next to the names of the brave men and women who have fought and died for this country, regardless of their political, moral or personal beliefs.

All you will ever need to know about why Republicans are no less socialist than Democrats

Is right here on the national Republican website.

The e-mail I got directing me to the site said this (italics mine):
Dear ,
Two years ago, Senator Ben Nelson cut a deal and caved to party pressure by giving the Democrats the 60th vote needed to ram through Barack Obama's $2.5 trillion government-run health care bill.
Senator Nelson cut that backroom deal with Harry Reid -- to get the infamous Cornhusker Kickback -- even though he knew it cut Medicare by $500 billion, raised taxes by $500 billion, and was opposed by a strong majority of Nebraskans.
Of course when the political pressure mounted, he started backtracking.
Yet recently he proclaimed that he "wouldn't change his vote" and that he was proud to be the man that made government-run health care the law of the land.
This is the sort of statist nonsense you'd expect from a radio pitchman like Marxist Levin.

Do these people think you're so stupid that you don't know that Medicare is government-run health care?

Or are they so stupid they think Medicare is not government-run health care?

Either way, when they imply they won't cut Medicare that's an admission they have no intention of ever balancing the budget. It can't be done without big cuts in the military and Medicare.

And by the way, they say they won't cut the military either.

Republicans Cannibalize Gingrich
  • Posted by Gary December 16th According to Martha T. Moore at the USA TODAY, GOP criticism of Newt Gingrich is mounting. In a recently released article she reported on leading Republican figures who stated,
  • "I don't think he has the mental discipline, the consistency or the ego control to be a good nominee or a good president," says Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y
  • "He's a little bit like a sober Charlie Sheen," says Rep. Steven LaTourette of Ohio, who came to Congress in Gingrich's 1994 Republican surge. "He just kind of shouts stuff out."
  • Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma said, he is "not inclined" to support Gingrich's bid because it was "lacking."
  • Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad told the Associated Press, "I think he's a great idea person; I have a lot of respect for him. But whether he has the discipline and the focus, I don't know."

Two More Reasons to Say "Thanks" Before Waving Good-Bye to the US »
The Real Illegal Immigration Problem
Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at 2:13PM

As with all US Federal Government election cycles, the topic of illegal immigration always comes up.

But, with Mexican nationals now leaving the US and returning to Mexico en masse to take advantage of Mexico's preferable economy and greater freedoms, the light should be shone upon all the Americans living illegally throughout the world.

In Mexico, hundreds of thousands of Americans live illegally, as last counted by Mexican officials in the 1990s and that number has likely grown.  Many of them disregard and overstay their 6 month tourist visa, preferring to live in the country for extended periods.  The majority of Americans living illegally in Mexico do not cause major problems other than drinking an inordinate amount of Corona beers and shocking the locals by shooting shots of tequila rather than sipping, which is the custom.  As well, many do not learn to speak the local language, a state of affairs that causes no one to get very angry.

AMERICAN ILLEGALS IN THE MIDDLE EAST

But, it is not in Mexico where the great majority of the American illegal immigrants are causing big problems.  Tens of thousands of illegal immigrants entered into Iraq and Afghanistan in the early 2000s.  All are gangmembers, in the world's largest gang known as the DoD.  They can be identified by their similar haircuts and wearing the gang colors of green or light brown camoflauge.

These illegal immigrants have caused untold destruction in the countries they have immigrated to.  In Iraq, estimates are that they have killed as few as 110,600 according to Absolute Propaganda (AP) and as many as over one million as estimated by Opinion Research.  In Afghanistan, over 10,000 innocent Afghanis were killed by American illegal immigrants between 2007-2010.

The Afghan government has repeatedly pleaded with the illegals to stop killing their people.  But the killing continues.  Many in the DoD gang have been brainwashed into the cult and believe they are killing the locals because the locals hate them for their freedom.

Making matters worse, the illegals do not even participate in the local economy, bringing zero net economic benefit.

AMERICAN ILLEGALS IN JAPAN

American illegals cause problems throughout the world.  Illegal immigrants in Okinawa Japan have been involved in 5,584 criminal cases including 559 cases of murder, burglary and rape.  The most recent examples of American illegal immigrant criminal activity in Okinawa are as follow:

- In September 1995, three DoD gangmembers raped an elementary school girl. This led to a huge gathering of prefectural residents in October 1995, with 85,000 residents participating.
- In October 1998, a high school girl was run down and killed by a drunken DoD gangmember.
- In June 2001, there was rape case by a US illegal immigrant.
- In November 2002, there was an attempted rape case by an illegal American.
- In May 2003, a DoD gangmember in Okinawa raped a woman, resulting in extensive injuries.
- In July 2005, a US illegal in Okinawa indecently assaulted an elementary school girl.
- In February 2008, a US illegal was suspected in the assault of a junior high school girl.

A HISTORY OF DESTRUCTIVE AMERICAN ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION

Illegal American immigration has caused millions of deaths worldwide over the decades.  Hundreds of thousands of Cambodians and Laotians were indiscriminately bombed by American illegal alien terrorists in the 1970s and millions were killed in Vietnam when illegal immigrants from the US were brainwashed by the DoD gang into thinking they had to "fight communism" - a strange state of affairs as now the US is a Fasco-Communist country with communist style central planning control over the economy.

Clearly the scourge of American illegal immigration has caused untold death and destruction throughout countless countries.  Is it not time that the focus on illegal immigration focuses on the epidemic levels of unwanted American illegal immigration throughout the world?
