Guilty.

The father, son and 2nd wife were all found guilty of the  first degree murder of the % daughters, 19, 17, and 13. Along with the murder of wife #1.

KINGSTON, Ont. -- All three defendants were found guilty Sunday of first-degree murders in the 'honour killings' of their family members at the Kingston Mills murder trial.

Calling it a "heinous" crime, Justice Robert Maranger sentenced Mohammad Shafia, his second wife, Tooba Yahya, and their son, Hamed, to life in prison for no parole eligibility for 25 years after a jury found each of them guilty of four counts of first-degree murder.

They were charged in the deaths of three of the Shafias' children — Rainab, 19, Sahar, 17 and Geeti, 13 — and Shafia's first wife, Rona Amir Mohammad.

The four women were found dead in a car at the bottom of the Kingston Mills locks June 30, 2009.

The jury deliberated for about 15 hours before rendering its verdict. Jurors heard from 58 witnesses and reviewed 160 exhibits.

 


As the trial ended we found out more about the evidence. The statements by the 3 Murders are shocking and disgusting.

The 12yo told her teacher that she she was afraid of her father and thought he was going to kill hew sister. When the teacher took it to the school officials and the police, she was told that she didn't understand that they had a "different culture" and she had to be more tolerant.

Here is another article from The Sun giving more background. If you can stomach it. One of the things I sound interesting, is that the family was upset thee daughter was marrying a Pakistani muslim. The did like Pakistanis. And I thought only whiles were racist.

Imagine the US without Obama, Reid and Pelosi. The record deficits, record debt and high unemployment would disappear.

For all you fact-absent Liberals, go look at what has happened since 2007. The Financial and Housing crisis happened 15 months after Dodd and Frank took their Chairmanships over the Senate Banking and House Financial committees. The deficits tripled and national debt is up by $6 trillion (not including the last two years of Bush's presidency when Dems controlled the House and Senate...add another $2 trillion). Unemployment doubled (4.6% in Jan. of '06 to 33 months of 9% plus), poverty increased, more people are on food stamps and we have a credit downgrade.

Americans sure do miss that 2006 days.

Many shows are also rebroadcast on their own networks (or sister networks like FOX News) later this afternoon and evening.  An extremely boring week all round, though Austan Goolsbee did demonstrate that he truly is a whorish liar hoping to be the next James Carville for whomever is in power.  NBC continued its superior record of having all white panelists and hosts, from snow monkey David Gregory on down. (ABC and FOX each scored one chatterer of color.)

FOX News Sunday with Newt Gingrich and Paul Ryan as guests and Brit Hume, AB Stoddard, Paul Gigot, and Juan Williams as panelists. (9 am)



Spittles Matthews. Time's Mike Duffy, BBCAmerica's Katy Kay, Kathleen Parker and Newsweek's Andrew Sullivan have daily dish.  Dufy predicts Obama cannot win Florida; Sullivan predicts that Obama will be re-elected as long as his negatives keep going down (he has a 30% "right track" rating) and the Republican's negatives keep going up.  Spittles managed to beat sister NBC show Meet the Flaks by having not only an all white panel, but scoring two blonds and a British homosexual -- you can't get whiter than that!(NBC at 10)

ABC's This Week with Clinton Administration Chipmunk George Stephanopoulus with the ever restful John Boehner as guest. Jake Tapper, the closest thing the DC news hive has to a male model (and in a way the ultimate insider, since he dated Monica Lewinsky before Clinton did).  The Clintonian chipmunk was "on vacation," perhaps because last week he made do with interviewing third place finisher Rick Santorum, after the previous week's show where he evaded covering any actual news and analysis for as long as possible, by interviewing comedian Steven Colbert for 15 minutes about his announcement of an exploratory committee to see if he should run for the GOP nomination (Colbert "ran" in 2008 as a Democrat).  With a diverse panel of Laura Ingraham, George Will, Austan Goolsbee (as a depilated, non-ENRON employed Paul Krugman), and Donna Brazile.  Austan Goolsbee, very fetching in cone bra, garters, lipstick, and high heels, claimed that the size of the federal government had shrunk in the past 3 years.  (10 am)

Meet the Flaks. With Fannie Mae lobbyist Beth Wilkerson's hubbie David Gregory. Guests include Rick Santorum and David Axelrod (chairs will be covered in protective vinyl), John McCain (representing Romney) and Fred Thompson (representing Gingrich).  Chuck Todd presents stats for the "3" GOP candidates, leaving off Ron Paul; McCain brings up the Libertarian Party.  This is McCain's 63rd appearance on Meet the Flaks. which ties him with Bob Dole for the most appearances and tells us a lot about John McCain. Plagiarist Doris Kearns Goodwin will discuss theft and copying in campaign speeches and advertisements on a typical all-white NBC panel with Joe Scarborough and Chuck Todd. (NBC, 10:30 am)

When Newt Gingrich's campaign was floundering in Iowa, it was given new life with millions of dollars in donation by billionaire Sheldon Adelson to Newt's SuperPAC "Winning Our Future."

Worth an estimated $21.5 billion, 78-year-old Adelson is the 8th richest man in America and has almost single-handedly financed Gingrich's second campaign surge. So far, Mr. Moneybags has given $10 million to Newt's campaign and has promised $20 million more will be forthcoming. Adelson's large donations have allowed Gingrich supporters to buy TV ads in key states, helping Newt to defeat Mitt Romney in the South Carolina Republican primary.

Adelson is the founder and CEO of Las Vegas Sands Corp., which owns the Sands Macau casino and hotel on the island of Macau, China -- the largest gambling mecca in the world. But now he is under federal investigation after a lawsuit claims he has ties to Chinese organized crime.

Michael Zennie reports for the UK's Daily Mail, Jan. 29, 2012, that the Department of Justice and SEC are investigating whether Las Vegas Sands violated the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act that prohibits bribing foreign officials.

The investigation stems from a lawsuit filed in October 2010 by a former executive at the Sands Macau in China. Steven C. Jacobs claims he was told to keep quiet about investigations of local officials and the possible presence in the casino of Chinese organized crime syndicate The Triads.

Jacobs, who ran the resort, says in his lawsuit that he was wrongly fired from the company after he objected to allegedly illegal actions that he was asked to perform. Among them: Jacobs claims Adelson wanted him to hire a Chinese lawyer to dig up "negative information" on local Macau officials that the company could use as leverage.

Jacobs says he also disagreed with Adelson over increasing the casino's use of junkets -- trips to Macau by groups of high-rolling gamblers organized by third-party groups.

Some junkets in Macau have been organized by members of Chinese organized crime syndicates. Reuters reported in 2010 that alleged Triad crime boss Cheung Chi-tai, who was connected with a junket to the Sands Macau, was running one of the VIP rooms at the casino, according to witnesses.  That information came out at a trial of four men convicted of breaking a Sands dealer's arms and legs, allegedly on Cheung's orders.

In his lawsuit, Jacobs says Adelson ordered him to keep Cheung's name and any information about possible Triad involvement secret from the casino's board of directors.

The Las Vegas Sands Corp. has strenuously denied Jacobs' claims and says he was fired for striking unauthorized deals and violating company policy.

Sheldon Adelson, who founded and runs Las Vegas Sands Corp -- one of the largest casino and resort companies in the world -- has denied the allegations in the lawsuit and said the company is cooperating with federal investigators. At a public forum last year, Adelson said the investigation is "not a serious matter" and that "When the smoke clears, I am 1,000 percent positive that there won't be any fire below it."

As in each and every year since 2001, hate crimes against Muslims not only are not soaring, they are consistently low, despite the incessant whining of terror-linked groups like CAIR.

FBI If any religious group can claim it is under threat, it would be Jews. 65.4% of all reported hate crime incidents in 2010 were against Jews. And that number is more than the total number of hate crimes against all other identified religious groups combined. By contrast, just 13.2% of hate crime incidents were identified as anti-Islamic.

Indeed, given the constant drum-beat of terror plots and incitement perpetrated by Muslims against Americans, it is astonishing just how little anti-Muslim backlash there actually is.

Hate crimes motivated by religious bias accounted for 1,409 offenses reported by law enforcement.  A breakdown of the bias motivation of religious-bias offenses showed:

  • 65.4 percent were anti-Jewish.
  • 13.2 percent were anti-Islamic.
  • 9.5 percent were anti-other religion, i.e., those not specified.
  • 4.3 percent were anti-Catholic.
  • 3.8 percent were anti-multiple religions, group.
  • 3.3 percent were anti-Protestant.
  • 0.5 percent were anti-Atheism/Agnosticism/etc.

What's more, the data demonstrates that America is actually  a 'mecca' of integration, considering America's huge population and vast territory. This is a stark contrast to the endemic intolerance levels in the Islamic world, where persecuting and slaughtering its own minorities (especially Christians) is rampant and growing. The only reason there are very few anti-Jewish hate crimes in places like Egypt, Syria and Iraq, is because these Muslim countries have already massacred and thrown out virtually all the indigenous Jews who had been living in those countries since before Islam even existed.
