May Day Mayhem on Its Way

Posted By Matthew Vadum On April 27, 2012

Occupy Wall Street supporters, labor activists, and other radicals calling for a general strike against capitalism across America on May 1 insist their activities will be peaceful.

As usual, they're lying.

Protesters on May Day, also known as International Workers' Day, are going to commit "a lot of violent acts which they're then going to blame police for," former community organizer Brandon Darby, a leading expert on leftist tactics, told me in an exclusive interview.

As I revealed in my book Subversion Inc.: How Obama's ACORN Red Shirts are Still Terrorizing and Ripping Off American Taxpayers, Darby has been a target ever since it was publicly revealed that the former left-wing anarchist saved the lives of innocent Americans by thwarting the planned fire-bombing of the 2008 Republican Convention by two anarchists.

Occupy Wall Street and the satellite protests it has spawned in cities across the U.S. and around the world have been spectacularly violent. Radical activists are responsible for hundreds of serious crimes, including murder, assault, gang rape, arson, rioting, and robbery.

The actions planned for May 1 are part of what left-wingers are calling the "99% Spring." They are designed to disrupt the U.S. economy and ultimately to extinguish what remains of Americans' cherished economic freedoms in the increasingly socialist Obama era. Leaders also hope to press lawmakers to promote the fraud known as "green energy" and to give those with student loan debts a massive $1 trillion bailout at the expense of taxpayers.

MoveOn and former Obama green jobs czar Van Jones's "Rebuild the Dream" group are just two of the major left-of-center organizations that are gearing up to inconvenience Americans and manufacture chaos next week. Though activists in various urban centers have different plans for this Tuesday, they are all united in their hatred of the economic system that made America great while uplifting its poorest citizens.

Los Angeles activists claim that on May 1 "[p]eople from all sectors of the city will have a chance … [at] helping to shut down the flow of capital while addressing the 99%'s major grievances." After a day of agitation "that cripples capitalism in the city," Occupy Los Angeles supporters will have yet another opportunity to perfect their up twinkle and down twinkle consensus-seeking hand signals at "a special General Assembly" in Pershing Square.

A spokesman for activists in New York told BigGovernment.com that Occupy Wall Street has been participating in "99 Pickets" since April 18 in an extended action that will conclude on May 1. Targets include Chase Bank, Standard and Poor's, the New York Times Co., ABC, Wells Fargo, Blackrock, Fidelity, and Lazard.

SEIU, National People's Action, and the ACORN front groups called Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment and Missourians Organizing for Reform and Empowerment (MORE) have all announced they will participate in the May Day protests.

Darby said that May Day activists will carry out "very deliberate provocations all across the country" and they will claim that whatever violence follows was instigated by police.

The Occupy Wall Street movement "is really just a re-branding of long-standing far left movements across the board that formed in the 1960s and 1970s and learned to reinvent themselves," Darby said. "When you talk about the 99 percent versus the one percent, you're talking about the proletariat versus the bourgeoisie and so forth."

"You can expect a lot of violence on May 1, a lot of property destruction. The unions are part of it as well. They're going to claim that it wasn't them, it was this other faction who showed up at the march. The unions in general like SEIU are going to claim that it's these rogue factions like they did at the 2008 Republican national convention. But you have to remember that [anti-capitalism activist] Lisa Fithian, for one example, is not only someone paid by the SEIU but she is one of their organizers."

Fithian also led training sessions leading up the GOP convention four years ago. Some of the radicals she trained "later went on to make bombs against Republicans and law-enforcement officials in Minnesota," Darby said.

Van Jones, who is still "very much a communist," now sees himself as someone who is organizing a counterweight to the Tea Party movement, Darby explained. Jones, who has been very active in promoting the "99% Spring" and the May Day demonstrations, represents a particular camp within the far left "that is somewhere in-between the black nationalist camp and the more socialist and traditionally liberal camp."

"What you'll see is [Jones] speaking and then some of the people that he speaks to will no doubt do insane things and violate laws," Darby said. "And then whenever they hit a cop in the face with a brick they'll come back and say it was the police who instigated it or deserved it or somehow an FBI informant encouraged them to do it."

Although activist groups claim 100,000 people will participate in the "99% Spring," it is difficult to know how many people will actually be part of the festivities. Leftists have a special talent for exaggerating popular support for their causes. Groups like MoveOn consider anyone who subscribes to its regular emails to be a member.

Posters and literature promoting progressive events frequently contain long lists of groups that have endorsed the event. The bigger the list, the greater support the event or cause appears to have. The problem is that the groups, whether they're West Side Vegan Grannies for Nuclear Disarmament or Differently Abled Transgendered Pet Owners' Collective for a Living Wage, often have overlapping membership lists. This political recycling program can make an event supported by a paltry few activists appear to have the backing of thousands and thousands of supporters.

Activists have already disrupted the shareholder meetings of large corporations such as GE and Wells Fargo. More invasions by radical mobs are planned. Activists plan to shut down Verizon's shareholder meeting on May 3 and Bank of America's shareholder meeting on May 9. The shareholder meetings of Sallie Mae on May 24 and of Walmart on June 1 are also targeted.

Occupiers also plan to violently disrupt the G8/NATO summit in Chicago on May 19.

The Latest from Planck's Constant

13 Reasons Muslim Terrorists Commit Suicide

Posted: 26 Apr 2012 06:07 PM PDT

I am sure that all thinking people, and by thinking people I mean non-Muslims, have been wondering over the years why Muslim terrorists are so quick to commit suicide. Lets see now - here are 13 reasons:

  1. Although the word alcohol comes from the Arabic language there is No drinking, No beer, No bars (see Sausage and Booze Party Would Offend Muslims).
  2. No sports: No television, No cheerleaders (see Yemen beach volleyball team blames Sexy Cheerleaders for Defeat - Photos), No car races, No baseball, No football, No basketball, No hockey, and No tailgate parties.
  3. Rags for clothes and diapers for hats (see The Bad Towelheads and the Good Towelheads).
  4. You can't shave. Your wives can't shave. Your children can't shave.
  5. baby with beard

  6. No fun food: No pork BBQ, No hot-dogs, No bacon-burgers, No lobster, No shellfish (see Muslim Dunkin Donuts - No Pork on my Fork).
  7. Your bride is picked by someone else (see Why 8 Year Old Girls Can Marry in Saudi Arabia). She smells just like your donkey, but your donkey has a better disposition.
  8. The women have to wear baggy dresses, and veils at all times (see Spanish town to vote on Burqa ban).
  9. You can't shower to wash off the smell of donkey cooked over burning camel dung.
  10. Planck's Constant, The Best Way to Make Perfect Bacon

For my Muslim readers who do not own ovens, I suggest heating dried camel dung to a blistering red hot and placing the bacon strips directly on the chips. This will also impart that extra flavor you all are used to.

  11. Constant wailing from the guy next door because he is sick and there are no doctors (see I Would Rather Be Dead than Buy Something From Israel).
  12. Lebanon's Hezbollah supporters take part in the Ashura ceremony
    Lebanon's Hezbollah supporters take
    part in the Ashura ceremony
No fun holidays: No Christmas, No Halloween, No Easter, No Thanksgiving, No Valentine's Day (see How Muslims Can Enjoy Valentine's Day and Make the World a Better Place). In your holidays you either can't eat for a month or you cut yourselves bloody.
  13. No fun: No nude women, No dating. No mixing of unmarried men and women anywhere (see Milk, Sugar or a Burqa with that Coffee?), No pretty women on beaches.

  14. If you do something wrong, you are stoned to death, decapitated, lashed to death, throat-slashed, or at the minimum have your nose cut off.
  15. Then they tell you that when you die it all gets better! See Islamic Paradise and 72 Delights.

Really, now, is there a mystery here?

Down with CISPA
America needs to stop preaching civil liberties abroad while passing privacy-destroying bills at home.
BY TREVOR TIMM | APRIL 27, 2012

On Thursday, April 26, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA), the first major Internet-regulation bill Congress has tried to pass since mass protests led to the spectacular collapse of the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in January. CISPA, while aimed at a much different subject, gained much the same ire as SOPA, given its potential effect on Internet freedom. Although sold as a bill that would strengthen cybersecurity, CISPA would have huge implications for Internet users' privacy both domestically and abroad if the Senate passed it in the coming weeks and it became law.

According to the bill's main author, Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.), CISPA's main purpose is to allow companies and the government to share information to prevent and defend against cyberattacks. But the bill's language is written so broadly that it carves out a giant cybersecurity loophole in all existing privacy laws.

The problem is in the bill's definition of " cyber threat information" and how companies can respond to it. "Cyber threat information" is an overly vague term that can be interpreted to include a wide range of tasks that normally wouldn't be considered cyberthreats -- like encrypting emails or running an anonymization tool such as Tor -- and as a result, a company's options would be so numerous as to allow it to read any user's communications for a host of reasons.

Those communications could then be handed over to the government voluntarily without a warrant or any oversight, nullifying well-established laws like the 1968 Wiretap Act and the 1986 Electronic Communications Privacy Act, which prevent companies from reading your communications except under very specific circumstances and prevent the government from getting users' communications without judicial review.

Once the U.S. government gets hold of such information, the problem intensifies. Private communications can be passed on to intelligences agencies like the National Security Agency (NSA) and the military -- bypassing decades of law barring intelligence agencies from spying on Americans -- and be used for other law enforcement purposes besides cybersecurity. Almost as an afterthought, the bill also increases government secrecy -- already at an all-time high -- by creating a new exception to the Freedom of Information Act for any information the government receives from companies.

It has become clear by now that CISPA is far more than a mere "cybersecurity" bill.

As such, CISPA has enraged civil liberties organizations and a host of other actors, from free market groups to Internet security experts. The bill's flaws are so obvious that Barack Obama's administration -- despite strongly pushing Congress to pass cybersecurity legislation -- issued a veto threat Wednesday, decrying the fact that CISPA "effectively treats domestic cybersecurity as an intelligence activity."

But that hasn't stopped Rogers from continually insisting that he's listening to the concerns of civil liberties groups and ordinary users. The congressman said Tuesday in response to criticism, "[Privacy advocates] have been very good working with us on language to get the bill to a point that helps them protect users and protect their civil liberties." He repeated much of those same claims on the House floor on Thursday, claiming that CISPA is "narrow" and "extremely limited" and that he was trying to accommodate the bill's critics.

In reality, the opposite was true. Rogers refused to even allow some common-sense, substantive amendments to reach the House floor, such as requiring companies to remove an individual's information before handing it over to the government, anonymizing data when it's shared between agencies, or making sure the government gets a warrant before looking at identifying information. Rogers also rejected an amendment that would prevent military and intelligence agencies like the NSA from receiving sensitive user data under this cybersecurity program. Instead, he offered a handful of cosmetic changes that did nothing to alleviate anyone's concerns.

Perhaps realizing that Congress was starting to catch on after co-sponsors started to change their minds during the debate, Rogers halted debate on additional amendments and called for an immediate floor vote a day earlier than scheduled. In the end, CISPA passed 248-168.

But despite the climactic outcome of Thursday's vote, the battle over cybersecurity legislation is far from over. The same debate about privacy still looms in the Senate, where at least now, many of the same concerns will be front and center. A Senate version of the bill, sponsored by Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.), contains many of the same exceptions to federal privacy law. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who doesn't think Lieberman's bill goes far enough, is sponsoring a competing bill that would actually require that more control over the Internet be handed to the NSA.

But the debate over privacy is bigger than any of these bills. It has become increasingly clear that just about any U.S. regulation of the Internet affects users worldwide, both in practice and -- perhaps even more crucially -- as model legislation for other governments. Just as SOPA would have allowed for the censorship of foreign websites (in fact, those were its target), CISPA allows companies to access any communications -- foreign or domestic -- which could then end up in the hands of the U.S. government. Global Internet users have taken notice, with the NGO Avaaz gathering almost 800,000 signatures against CISPA, many of which are from people outside the United States.

The Obama administration's "Internet freedom" agenda -- already tarnished -- is on the line, and at least this time, officials seem to realize that their actions will have a direct effect on their foreign policy. CISPA came to a floor vote the same week that the Obama administration issued an executive order targeting U.S. companies that sell censorship and surveillance gear to Iran and Syria. The order, though a step in the right direction, came under harsh criticism given that the NSA is allegedly still running much of its warrantless wiretapping program -- first exposed in 2005 by the New York Times -- at the same time Obama is decrying mass surveillance in other countries.

There are signs, however, that the Obama administration is learning that it can't have a "do as I say, not as I do policy" when it comes to Internet freedom. During the SOPA debate, the State Department refused to comment on the bill despite virtually the entire tech industry complaining that it would amount to mass censorship. A spokesperson even released a statement at the time saying, "The Department of State does not provide comment on pending legislation," despite a provision that would have made much of the circumvention software it is funding -- to the tune of tens of millions of dollars -- illegal.

In stark contrast this time around, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's senior advisor for innovation, Alec Ross, was the first U.S. official to definitively say, "The Obama administration opposes CISPA," as he matter-of-factly told the Guardian Monday. Prior to that, the administration had only released a broad statement saying that "privacy and civil liberties" should be preserved in any cybersecurity bill.

Given the increased attention to cybersecurity around the world, governments will watch and learn from the U.S. experience. If the United States continues to preach privacy and civil liberties abroad while Congress passes a privacy-destroying bill at home, the results will be much the same as CISPA: a bill designed for a legitimate purpose, used as another excuse to encroach on the freedoms of ordinary citizens.

Community Responds to Latest Gay Teen Suicide

Community Responds to Latest Gay Teen Suicide
Underscores Urgent Need for Education, Safe Schools & Family Support

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(April 26, 2012, Ogden, Utah) On Monday, April 23, 18-year-old Alex
Smith spoke on a community panel at a screening of "Bullied," telling
the packed room about the bullying his boyfriend, Jack, experienced at
school. What no one in the room yet knew, including Alex, was that
Jack had already taken his own life.

The death of Jack Reese is the latest known suicide of a gay teen in
Northern Utah. One official says, off the record: "It happens here
about once a week," but then quickly adds, "but officially, you know,
it doesn't happen here."

OUTreach is hosting a community response: "A Community Stands up -
Northern Utah Addresses LGBT Bullying and Suicide." It will take place
May 1st, 6:30 pm at the Ogden Amphitheater, 343 E 25th ST, Ogden, UT.
The purpose of the event is for the community to stand in solidarity
with (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) LGBT youth, to speak out
and express grief and outrage at yet another loss of life in Northern
Utah and to witness for the need for immediate change in schools,
churches and society. Until ALL youth are loved and accepted in their
homes, able to attend school without fear of bullying, and know that
their lives are worth living, this community will continue to demand
change.

Numerous community leaders, educators, parents and youth will speak
out for acceptance and love for LGBT youth, including active members
of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. At the request of
Alex Smith, a candlelight vigil in memory of Jack Reese will be held
at the conclusion of the event.

OUTreach Executive Director Marian Edmonds notes: "The youth I work
with all know either a victim of bullying, the loss of a friend to
suicide, and most often, both. These youth are bright, creative, and
loving, yet too often face daily abuse from rejecting families,
bullies at school and the loss of their church family. It is time for
local schools to incorporate proven techniques for eliminating
bullying and homophobia, for churches to preach love and acceptance,
and for parents and families to love and accept their children. Each
loss of life is a loss for all of us, and it must stop now."

Edmonds underscored the need for accurate education and guidance for
ethnically and religiously diverse families and cited the work of the
Family Acceptance Project (FAP) at SF State University – a
research-based education, support and policy initiative that helps
ethnically and religiously diverse families – including Latter-day
Saint families – support their LGBT children in families, schools and
faith communities to prevent suicide, substance abuse, HIV,
homelessness, school victimization and family disruption. FAP uses a
culturally grounded approach that strengthens families and promotes
their LGBT children's well-being. FAP's family education materials are
available online in 3 languages at:

New post on Bare Naked Islam

MUST SEE: Glenn Beck's Rumors of War III – Target U.S.

by barenakedislam

Glenn Beck's team compiled a documentary on a growing terrorist threat in America. The documentary outlines connections and infiltrations by the Muslim Brotherhood within the United States government.

The U.S. is under attack. The enemy moves freely amongst us and even advises the very government bodies established to protect us from just such a threat. They've already smuggled in at least one weapon of mass effect and are working to set up missle bases within striking distance of the homeland.

They are here, now, and their goal is singular and quite specific: The downfall of the United States of America.

THE BLAZE  Do Islamic extremist groups still pose a mortal threat to the United States?

Based on recent events, it would seem many senior US officials believe the answer is no. Just this week, the Obama administration claimed that the War on Terror, a catch-all term for the series of post-9/11 conflicts between civilization and violent radical Islam, has come to an end.

But a new GBTV Documentary, "Rumors of War III: Target U.S." shatters this claim. It makes the case that not only has the threat from radical Islam endured– it is in fact growing and more imminent with each passing day.

Rumors of War III makes the case that international Islamist organizations have learned to thrive in the United States as part of a coordinated Psychological Operation. Hardline Islamist groups– including Muslim Brotherhood affiliates and their mouthpieces in the western media– have learned to code their language and make arguments about the intent of groups like the Muslim Brotherhood that are seemingly palatable to the average American. READ MORE

From James Carville DSCC

Ol' Karl

Guess what I just wrote into my calendar for May 1: "Send a letter to
Karl Rove."

I've already written it. It goes like this.

Dear Karl,

I saw you poured $1.2 million into mudslinging TV ads in five
battleground states. Bad news, though: My side's grassroots supporters
just matched you, dollar for dollar. So if you thought you were gonna
buy yourself the White House and Senate with all that money, tough
biscuits.

Sorry about you wasting all that cash. Maybe just go to Vegas next time?

Love,
James

Of course, before I can send that letter, it has to be true – and
that's where you come in.

Let's match Karl's $1.2 million before May 1. Democratic Senators will
even match your contribution so it'll count double. But you gotta act
fast – like now. So click here to give $5 or more.

https://dscc.org/give2?donate_page_KEY=14598&amount=x

How much fun would it be if, in between opening up those big checks
from his Big Oil and Wall Street pals, Karl got that note? More
importantly, how huge would it be if folks like you matched his ad buy
and stopped him from taking the four seats Republicans need to run the
Senate?

After all, Rove and his pals aren't spending all this money just to
get the frequent flier miles. They're trying to buy the White House
and the Senate so they can end Medicare as we know it, turn back the
clock on women's rights, and throw the middle class under the bus.

Their agenda stinks – but your grassroots support can fight it. And if
you can match Karl's ad buy, we can neutralize the special interests
and protect President Obama and our majority.

That's why I need you to make a contribution of $5 or more to help the
DSCC match Karl Rove's $1.2 million ad buy before May 1. Remember,
give today and your contribution will count for double.

I'm a man of simple pleasures: spicy food, college football, and maybe
a nice cigar now and then. But nothing compares to tweaking ol' Karl.

So help me send a message straight to his underground lair. Heck, I'll
even spring for the stamp. All I need from you is a contribution of
$5 or more so we can match this $1.2 million ad buy and keep our
Democrats on offense.

Thanks for helping me take on Karl Rove. Can't wait for May 1.

James
